The Web browser on my N800 has stopped working. It loads, activates the
"Updating " message, and then does nothing. There are no logged
errors, and running it from the command line produces no error messages.

The telepathy and rtcomm upgrades I installed the other day included support
for IRC, but all I get when I configure for irc.freenode.net is a network
error. Is there some nonobvious trick to setting up IRC? I found Xchat for
Maemo, but it's for an older version and won't install.

Perfect! It took a bit of downloading and rebooting, but now I can

Since adding GSM capability would bulk up the basic unit, it seems that
perhaps an external GSM enabler would be a good move. Connect via

I was surprised that the reviewer had troubles getting online through
Bluetooth and a mobile phone, as that's one of the coolest and easiest
things about the N800. By contrast, getting either Windows or OS X to

Yeah, I know there's a package. Somewhere.
The problem is not with Canola per se, but rather with the overall
sloppy condition of the Maemo repositories, both on maemo.org and on
other sites.
Software often depends on other packages not in the same repository, and
that's not documented or handled in any graceful way. So long as you
