today. Found 10 snowies. They were quite active. I saw 2 or 3 at once a few

First of all I want to thank Conny Brunell for her report from yesterday on
this area. She always does such a good job.
My friend Russ and I went down this morning first of all to the Industrial
park. We didn’t see too much the first time we were there, just a horned lark
and some geese flyi
Just saw a Red-shouldered Hawk perched on a wire (looked to be in hunting
mode) on Tamarack Drive, just north of Hennepin Co. Rd 24 in Medina.
Also, numerous juncos and Fox Sparrows around - the type of birds that
often hit windows during migration. It is time to make your home windows as

Today's additions are a small flock of purple finches to add to the
multitudes of juncos.
Sandhill Cranes and Canada Geese have been back for a week or more; Robins
and Bluebirds flew in over the weekend.

Yesterday I was watching the goldfinches and dark eyed juncos at my feeder
when I saw a bird that looked different from the rest. Brown with streaked
sides with faint patches of yellow, an eye ring, and a yellow crown. Later

Monday morning I drove Black Dog Road in Burnsville and found 13 species of
waterfowl including FOY No. Shoveler, Canvasback, Pied-billed Grebe,
Gadwell, Ring-neck Duck. There were large flocks of Wood Ducks (mostly in
pairs), Hooded Mergansers, and scaup. There was a large raft of mixed
divers
