Right on cue, the first real summery (warm, humid, buggy) day in my neck of
the woods brought what I often consider to be the first sign of summer,
bird-wise (that being Pewees). It felt early to me, but I checked my notes
and, sure enough, the first Pewee arrivals at my place have all been May
15,
Why would an American Goldfinch pair be collecting nesting fluff now, which I
put out for birds?
Mouthfuls, by the way.

There is a Yellow-throated Warbler singing intermittently from the white
pines at the following coordinates in the main unit of Carlos Avery WMA in
Chisago County (west side of Stacy):
