OSGEO installation directory, then I performed a fresh installation (may be

I'm using OSgeo installer and It installed gdal 1.9.
I have gdal_ECW_JP2ECW.dll in bin/gdalplugins/1.9.
QGis.bat (in "%OSGEO4W_ROOT%"\bin\) is like this:

You can set the DLLs to load defining PATH (and others) environmental
variables, but you're only allowed to use the same GDAL used to compile
QGis. So, if QGis is using GDAL 1.9, it cannot load and se GDAL 1.8 (weel,

I solved the problem using 4 dll distributed by ERDAS with SDK 4.1 READ ONLY

If I download the 4.1 version by ERDAS website (called
ECWJP2SDKSetup_20100920.exe) and I install this SDK, then under both
redistributable and "\bin\vc90" there isn't NCSEcw4_RO.dll.
Without this dll I get two errors by gdalinfo --formats (that cannot find

Just reinstalled the 4.2 version of ERDAS SDK, copied 4dlls from
redistributable to "osgeo4w/bin"
Now from the shell gdalinfo --formats I can see the ECW extension.
Qgis now can load ecw (they are between its extension list), but if I try to
open one of them Qgis crashes..
