I have one quick suggestion. Do you know how much boost its running
when you put your foot in it? I see you said it pings under heavy
load. It could be that your wastegate solenoid is sticking and not
operating the wastegate actuator and hitting overboost. I was having
the same problem and
I found that all out the hard way. I just drug my 85 SC out of the
garage this last year after sitting for 11 years from a fire. I am not
completely sure, but I imagine that either my fuel lines or worm clamps
gave out since I had no idea when I was in high school that it needed to
have high

dont forget to check and change your rubber fuel lines at the firewall that
feed the fuel rail feed, return, and on Tls up to 87 the 3/4" bypass loop to
the pressure regulator. if they are original and would be cracking by now you
should replace them with new fuel injection rated fuel line rated
Pump was a Mopar Hi-output, put in new for the first rebuild, so it only has
about 3000 miles on it.

That describes almost exactly what my 86 SC does. I din't notice if you
mentioned replacing the oil pump. I'd start there, along with a mechanical
pressure gauge
Given how imprecise the stock gauges are, and how often the stock
senders fail, do yourself a favor and temporarily install a proper
(read:accurate) mechanical gauge on the engine. Then replace the
sender/switch
What are you running for oil? Most break ins should be run on good
non-synthetic oil
That describes almost exactly what my 86 SC does. I din't notice if you
mentioned replacing the oil pump. I'd start there, along with a mechanical
pressure gauge just to make sure you aren't chasing a non issue.

The car is relatively safe, its not going to blow up on you, but with it
pinging the bottom end is taking a heck of a beating and you will
shorten the life of the bearings.
Is the oil in the inlet hoses for the throttle body/turbo? Remove the
throttle body and look in the turbo inlet, is there oi

I have a question for all the mopaer experts out there:
'87 daytona Pacifica w/ rebuilt engine, started pinging, thought it was just
timing, it wasn't.
Had mechanic change valve seals after seeing car, believing that oil leaking
into combustion chamber is the cause of the ping.(and blue smoke
Hello all.
Ok we sorted out the Baro problem (code 13). No more check engine light.
Now I have some new bugs.
First off, my oil pressure gauge, when started up cold, reads nice good
pressure, 1 mark past the middle. It moves a bit with the engine activity as it
should. However, when the engin

Yeah, a car can't diesel without fuel and the only way an EFI car can get
fuel while turned off is leaky injectors (as previously stated) or
something really goofy with the ignition feed to the electronics. Are you
sure it isn't just running? Can you rev it up with the gas pedal?

The Best transmission fluid is a good quality version of whatever was in
there. Some of the later models used 10W-30 motor oil, the earlier ones
used Mopar ATF.

It's only a band aid, NOT a cure, but if the car is an auto shutting it down
in gear, NOT park will usually keep them from dieseling. I have that
problem on my Reliant, but it's got a carb. I guess the load let's them
die.
