That's one option. The note on top of the repository listing in
https://qgis.org/en/site/forusers/alldownloads.html#debian-ubuntu has a couple
more.

QGIS 3.4.1 packages are available on qgis.org. There will also be bionic
builds based on ubuntugis there soon.

No, this just because ubuntugis doesn't offer much newer dependencies for
bionic - only GRASS 7.4.2 instead of GRASS 7.4.0.

Why? We have ubuntugis based qgis repositories. I stopped maintaining QGIS
builds in the ubuntugis PPA, when we began to support a LTR and the latest
release in parallel - as ubuntugis can only carry one qgis (at least with the
current packaging).

I wonder which distribution that applies to. Doesn't happen for xenial here.
Shouldn't that give a message about the conflicting files if that was the

hen the globe plugin is built
with limited symbol visibility ie. -fvisibility=hidden
-fvisibility-inlines-hidden.
Doesn't happen without, doesn't happen with the nightlies (built with debugging
symbols), does only affect amd64 and doesn't happen with ubuntu's regular
osgearth eith
rned 1 exit status
The i386 build was ok, but also not include because of the amd64 failure.
The 2.12 nightlies for ubuntugis trusty build fine however. So I suspect it
might have something to do building with debug vs without, but I didn't find
time yet to look into it.

ubuntugis itself is replaced by this since the
introduction of LTR as it could only have either version.

Apparently there was an update to 1.9.0 (but only lucid -
gdal-bin_1.9.0-1~exp1~lucid1_amd64.deb) in ubuntugis unstable.
The dependants are not automatically rebuilt - and AFAICS nobody is notified.
So qgis still depends on the previous package.
