Hello all
i've update the page with other panel colors, but it's quite shure the
white is the best.
The objection about some "theme with black bg and white fg " is
absolutely rignt, but, exept for one of the very contrasted GTK theme,

i'm fat to be a specialist of gtk artwork.
But, IMHO, there is curently no clean way to use the same image for an
horizontal & a vertical panel.
the only solution i can find is to have a (big) .png for vertical panel,
and a smaller one for horizontal,
That certainly would be a big factor in setting Ubuntu's look apart
from other distros.

That effect is very nice,
In fact, I think it looks even nicer if you ad a 2px white highlight
ot the bottom of it...
Unfortunately, I have a few 'buts' to consider
At the moment, the panel style changes with the GTK style - which is good,
However, by using an image we stop this from happening,
i like it. i'd roll with that for sure..

Wahou !
That's just nice ! Would be nice if GtkHuman use such light grey
(without the glassiness). This tile fit well in both top and bottom
panel.
Nice work !

I think the panel needs to look quite different from our window borders
and dialog backgrounds. At the moment, part of the problem is that the
panel looks too similar to the menu bar, of an app, and to the in
Thanks for the suggestion. It looks interesting, to say the least,
but I wonder about usability here. The bar looks like it's too dark
to create a proper contrast between itself and the text.
