While it does have the problem of allowing the user to modify their own
fingerprints, I think that the alternatives result in code that isn't
sufficiently tested or stable enough to support for an LTS.
I think we should accept thinkfinger for hardy, and migrate to a better
fprint-based solution

mencoder works fine,but is not Is not registered

I got this bug when I upgraded my AMD64/Dual Core (Asus MB/NVidia grpx)
system to 7.10. It wasn't there before in the previous release.
After some fiddling around and reading the threads here, I tested
various options for getting rid of it. I eventually added the
ec_intr=0 option to the kernel,

fine for you? Do you could post your Xorg.0.log if it worked?
Does it work if you replace the driver intel or vesa with i810 in
xorg.conf?
If the i810 driver works fine I guess it is the best to push it upstream.

* I had the same problem back in the 2.6.16 to 2.6.20 days (no dynticks). The
only solution I found was to get rid of gnome. Since then I've been happily
running with xfce.
Can anyone confirm or deny that this is re-producable in other desktop

I'm pretty sure powertop is correct (doesn't it use the CPU itself to
get the stats?). The reason being that the temperature sensors rise by
about 10-15 degrees and my battery life is shot to bits :)
Can you reproduce it at all?
