Mine seems to most often happen just after a reboot but isn't

I have exactly the same problem,
- The dock shows and works as expected, even semi translucent
- flying the mouse over shows the tool tips
- Clicking on the dock opens the corresponding application
- Dragging an application adds it to the dock
- Running an application shows the white indicators

Ok, try running the update-manager as sudo like this:
gksu update-manager
See if that corrects the problem and report back. Also, leave the
status set to "incomplete" as we are working on this bug. Thanks.

for now seems like; as is, VNC (Vino) is unusable so we dont have that many
choices (xrdp breaks some applets so not very good choice here either)... go

I've the same problem on Ubuntu 11.04 amd64 with Firefox 4.0 it uses 90%

The drivers/base/power/resume.c:46 part is just an example; in your case
the hash will likely match something else, so look for a slightly
different message.
This is also starting to look like a case of buggy ACPI BIOS. You might
check if there is a bios upgrade for your motherboard.

I also had problems login in to ubuntuone, until I installed gnome-
keyring (sudo apt-get install gnome-keyring So ubuntuone-control-
panel-gtk should depend on python-aptdaemon-gtk and gnome-keyring.

I should add that USB audio works just fine. It's only when using the
internal mic or a mic connected to the external combo jack that fails
audio recording.
