I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 from usb-creator on a CD live with latest
Ubuntu 11.10 beta 1. I did also the trick of removing casper-rw and
creating a partition with this name to have bigger permanent size (would
be nice if done bz usc-creator itself!).

Just to be clear, the only approval that the docteam has given to this
is to add an icon to the launcher. If, as appears to be proposed, the
system settings icon is also *removed* from the session menu, it seems
to me that this will break every piece of documentation that refers to
system settings.

Indeed it seems to be fixed for me. But I'm not the original poster. My
Problem occurred on a DELL Lat E4300. After installing all updated, NM
is happily connecting again to the known networks.

I experience a very similar bug on oneiric. It happens quite often - every 2 or
3 hours during normal use. I can't give any specific steps to reproduce it but
it seems to happen the most when a application with maximized window is started
or it's window is minimized or closed. During that time I
the problem here is that chromium is using its native window controls,
right click on the titlebar of chromium and select 'Use system titlebar
and borders'

After installing updates, I can confirm the focus problem still affects
user applications as in bug #805630 though it seems that Dash and
Launcher and the alt+tab switcher are no longer affected.
