I managed to reproduce the behaviour Volodya has reported both in Ubuntu
11.10 and Ubuntu 10.10. This is not just relating to FTP but also
happens with removable devices and Windows shares.

I have the same symptoms are a similar graphic card. If I disable the
Unity plugin in CSM (and enabled awn to have a dock) everything is back
to normal. So it looks like a unity issue.

OK, as a quick fix, I have effectively replaced backend/ipp.c with the
1.4.x version (branches/1.4.x/backend/ipp.c, r8950), with the patch
included below. One line was changed in order to get the code to
compile as part of 1.5:

I just found this bug report after experiencing the same problem in 11.04
Seeing that gnome-settings-daemon throws an error I tried killall
gnome-settings-daemon and after a short pause, my expected theme reappeared. I

- Added the PPA
- INstalled the lightdm-gtk-greeter package
- Applied updates
- Enabled the language selector in the configuration file (set

Every time I switch to a virtual console, the screen brightness gets set
to 100% regardless of what it was set to previously. I just recently
upgraded to the most recent BIOS firmware from Lenovo, but I had the
same problem before I did so.

all cases where a proxy is needed there is an intranet that is not sent
through the proxy.

Yes it is a duplicate. The key statement in the description is
"Sensitivity seems to do little or nothing", bug #20852 says "the
