Public bug reported:
When I upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04, I received this error. I tried to
remove and reinstall all texlive packages, but the error persists.
Thanks
ProblemType: Package
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04
Package: tex-common 4.04
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.46-generic
Just did a fresh text install (twice) of 14.04 and the install grub
step failed with exactly the same symptoms. Trying to do things
manually results in a boot where I get dumped into initramfs

My install also failed because of Ubiquity! I'll try again and look for
that skip button. After all, it was a freshly downloaded ISO and a new
virgin DVD... I don't know how that could get corrupted. Thanks!
