I managed to break my ubuntu install and in the process of fixing the problem I fixed the sound issue. I had setup my own partition table and when I rebooted Ubuntu compliened about the /boot/efi was corrupt. In the process of fixing the problem one sugguestion was to ensure that the BIOS

I am using the live CD and browse my broken install of 9.10. I have found the following errors in the Xorg.0.log file: (II) LoadModule: i810 (WW) Warning, couldn't open module i810 (II) UnloadModule: i810 (EE) Failed to load module i810 (module does not exist, 0) and (II) intel(0): Setting
