okay i solved the problem.
Since i was upgrading from an older ubuntuversion my locale was set to [EMAIL
PROTECTED] and this was causing easytag to write the filenames in ISO-8859-1
(strange isn't it?). The default locale for new users in intrepid is
LANG=de_AT.UTF-8. Using this locale for my mi

yeah they can't reproduce it cause they are using cards with too much
memory. As someone wrote somewhere this problems disappears if one has
enough videomemory. So instead of sending nvidia hardware, they should

I can confirm this bug in gusty.
I'm using an asus m2n-vm dvi mainboard. It suffice to pull some data from a
fast ftpserver and my box locksup complety. These lockups DON'T occur using the
gusty live-cd nor using a 7.04 live-cd. So it looks like the bug got introduced
with some update.

i can confirm a sync problem with totem:
I don't have any audio glitch, but when watching a movie after some time one
can notice that audio isn't in sync with the picture anymore.
Happens with many different videos and only with totem. Non gstreamer players
like vlc aren't affected.

Just some more details for my last post. The 'border' under feisty is
exactly 64 characters.
So a file with a name consisting 65 characters (total: name + extension) the
last character of the extension is truncated under windows xp.
As written above under gnome-baker everthing is fine.

I attached subs for testing taken from some movie ( so don't wonder bout
the text ;) ).
how to test:
take a random .avi. rename it to test.avi. place test.idx and test.sub in the
same folder as test.avi.
try to play the test.avi with totem -> totem hangs.

Happens with every movie that has subs in the sub/idx format. these subs
consists of two files: a .sub and an .idx file. A rip made with dvd-rip
outputs this format for example.
Other subtitle formats like .sub or .srt work fine with totem-gstreamer.

are having the same problem. Seems to be a feisty regression. used to
work fine in edgy.

using gnomebaker is an option too, if the filename is not too long
(tried it with a filename consisting ~70 characters) the filename is not
displayed shortened in xp. but when i tried it with a filename with
~140 charaters it didn't work, but 70 characters should be enough ;)

Just wanted to bump this bug again, since it's still present in feisty!
In ubuntu the filenames are displayed correctly, but windows xp they
are truncated. maybe it's a xp bug? but one the otherhand if i burn with
GnomeBaker i didn't experience that bug ...
it's a pity because nautilus-cd-burner

Just upgrade to feisty and the bug is still there. The workaround i
posted above helps a bit, but not 'as much' as in edgy. i.e. the mouse
moves jumpy, audio hangs sometimes. Without the workaround the whole
system stalls for 2 seconds maybe every 5 seconds ...

I can confirm that bug.
Happens also in edgy with an encrypted ext3 partition.
a workaround is to renice the kjournald process i.e. renice -p `pgrep
kjournald`

this bug occurs on edgy using ekiga 2.0.3.
it can be reproduced like this:
Set the ekiga window to stay on top.
call some number like for example 500 (for echotest).
Quit the call -> window isn't set to stay on top anymore.
