I can confirm this bug. (Beagle Search 0.3.9 - Ubuntu 9.10 32bit) beagled-helper will eat up all of the system memory and about 500mb of the swap, the system will be unresponsive during that time, once beagled-helper stops whatever it is doing running swapoff and swapon will return the system to a

I've had this happen too (it used 1,6 GB. which is probably all it could grab) I think it started happening after I added some new entries in the external-filters.xml (I wanted it to index some extra txt files).
