I have a D-Link DWL-520+ running on Jaunty final.
I had to remove it when I installed ubuntu, then deactivate Network Manager
(which is the faulty one and not the driver), then replugged the card and I
made a little script to connect automatically to my wifi AP (which is my
provider modem).

I've blacklisted the acx module. Now, I'm using the DWL-G650+ (Bx)
Windows driver (with ndiswrapper) and its working fine. No luck with
acx. I don't want to remove the network-manager, 'cause, by default,
it should work; so, I'll wait to use it normal, with the native
module. 'til there, I'll keep
Unfortunately, the problem happens in Jaunty Final too...I've
blacklisted the acx module (so I can login in my account) and now, until
solve the problem, I'm using an external adapter (Siemens Gigaset 108
USB Adapter, with ndiswrapper)...by the way, I can't find any suitable

I can confirm this bug on Jaunty Final. What happens is, that I start
the system and suddenly when its on the desktop it freezes. Demounting
the D-Link DWL-520+ with ACX100 system doesn't have this problem.

Problem does not occur by replacing network-manager with wicd.
Unfortunately the DWL-520+ can only connect to a D-Link Dl-614+ (which
is the matching 22Mbit-router) without encryption. When I turn on any
possible mode ( WEP HEX open/shared, WEP ASCII open/shared, WPA-PSK) of
encryption
I also confirm this locks up the Intrepid Final LiveCD. Not pretty for
new users. I finally figured out I could get it to boot by removing the
wireless card.
There is a dev/beta version of the acx 100/111 project with WPA support.

Same behavior on my Laptop (ACER 1705 modified with DLINK wlan card
using acx111).
The liveCD is not usable at all because of this bug. This is not a correct
behavior as it may turn down new users from using ubuntu if the live CD crashes
right away.

I have the same problem. The live-DVD won't start, and an installed
system doesn't either. adding blacklist acx to the modprobe blacklist
results in a starting system but without wlan.
