Same with me.(both on my Dell Optiplex 745 and on my Albacomp laptop with a
Clevo motherboard. And this notebook has never had any problems with any

The desktop Pc configuration is:
Motherboard: Asus Mpv-mx
CPU: Athlon64X2, 3800+
Memory: 2x1 GB
Chipset: Nvidia Geforce 6100
Soundcard: Creative Audigy Ls
Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce 6100 (integrated with mainboard)
My laptop
Same for me, updated 8.04 to 8.10 and OS won't shut down or restart,
always hangs on ALSA. Otherwise all sound works normal.
I have an Acer Aspire 5670 Laptop, the sound card is something from
Intel, Device Manager sees it as ALC883.
