slow boot when is ethernet cable not p
Well... if I remove all config about eth0 in /etc/network/interfaces, the
network-manager applet in gnome says: Device is unmanaged under wired network.
But the Ethernet network works perfectly.
Using ifconfig the eth0 interface is well configured (right IP address and
default gateway).
If I le
so in order to use network-manager you need to remove all config from
/etc/network/interfaces.
if it doesnt work, please reproduce and attach your complete syslog.

If commented:
#iface eth0 inet dhcp
#auto eth0
The system does not recognize the wired connection.
So, if I want to use the cable I need to un-comment the two rows.
If I want not to hang at boot without the plugged ethernet cable I need to
comment them...
Any idea???

A workaround that worked for me was to comment the following two lines
on the file /etc/network/interfaces
#iface eth0 inet dhcp
#auto eth0
I cannot check if this disables the lan interface because I'm using only a
wireless connection.
I found this workaround reading about the bug #108152.

The bug is affecting me too, after the upgrade to Intrepid. I had no problems
before.
The boot is hanging about 1 minute on "configuring network interfaces" and is
not possible to interrupt the procedure.
I attach the dmesg logs. The hanging is visible after about 22 seconds in the
file timestam
it is on notebook FSC Esprimo Mobile v5505
