Actually this magically fixed itself at some point.. I'm on 9.10 now and
firefox's menus seem to be using the theme. Go figure. Can anyone else
confirm that this is fixed for them without any work arounds as well?

This is not firefox causing this. Pulse audio is not in KDE so i have to
assume its pulse causing this.

I have the same problem here - a completely fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04
with no tweaking done, apart from updating to the latest versions of
Firefox and installing a few extra packages.
This must make my installation worth investigating with regard to
reproducing the problem. I have attached dpkg

purged the prior package before installing Flash from the Adobe Labs
site, so dpkg should not show anythi

I'm also using compiz/fusion with the desktop cube, rotate cube turned on.
Everything works fine in Kubuntu, so I assume it's an issue between flash and
either compiz or pulseaudio or something.

This video plays fine for me on my Thinkpad T61p.
How did you install flash, and which package(s)? I see that there is a
new "flashplugin-installer" package. I haven't tried it, since I long
ago I installed the 64 bit version directly from Adobe
(http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/
