I'm closing this bug.
The "Directory nonexistent" error itself should be fixed in Hardy (see bug
107820).
Just because the "Directory nonexistent" handling is better does not mean that
CPU frequency scaling is supported.

It seems like all of you are using an amd64 kernel. So this looks like

Experiencing same problem on laptop with Intel Celeron Mobile 420
processor and Ubuntu 7.04. No cpufreq directory and associated
subdirectories under /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/.
