Title:
Intel 5300 wifi dies rando
One has to mention that i tried the same hardware in a multi-boot
configuration. I.e. it was able to keep / restore the connection with
windows XP, while it was not with Linux.

Same happens with http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwl3945
(iwl3945). The wifi / wlan network connection dies at some point, and
only a
sudo rmmod iwl3945
sudo modprobe iwl3945
or a reboot can restore it.

I had similar problems with a 5300 in a ThinkPad T400 on Lucid. After
trying the latest linuxwireless backports and then a 2.6.36-rc4+compat-
wireless, I would see errors like:
[34400.190021] iwlagn :03:00.0: Failing on timeout while stopping DMA
channel 1 [0xa5a5a5a0]
[34400.190021] iwlagn 0
i still get this error if it's under heavy load. It happens multiple times
while compiling a distribution using open embedded and sometime loads big
files. here's the trace:
Feb 22 18:34:55 thinky kernel: [508274.590953] python: page allocation failure.
order:2, mode:0x4020

I have experienced no problems with Intel 5300 on a Thinkpad X200s since
I switche to Kernel 2.6.33 (rc) on Ubuntu Lucid (currently
2.6.33-020633rc8-generic).

I think this bug is the same to this other:

Somebody in charge please try to join both, so there is more
consciousness about this is happening and affects more people than it
looks.

I can confirm this happens with my laptop as well. Removing and
modprobing iwlagn solves the problem.
I'm on an HP Elitebook 6930p.
Please let me know if I can contribute any more information to solve
this.
r...@miguel:~# lspci | grep -i wireless

I can confirm this on Karmic with 2.6.31-14, on an HP Elitebook 2530p.
The workaround rmmod iwlagn && modprobe iwlagn works for me -- thank you
Chris! In the linked bugzilla entry it is claimed that there are patches
that may solve the bug:
http://bugzilla.intellinuxwireless.org/show_bug.cgi?id=204
Looks like I might be suffering from this bug instead:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/277634/
The above link to Fedora's site seems to still be relevant though.

I am experiencing this same bug, which I found additionally documented
over in Fedora's system:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=493018
I'm using a Thinkpad X61s
While it is true that I can generally fix the connection by doing a:
"""
sudo rmmod iwlagn && sudo modprobe iwlagn
"""
That
It also randomly crashes in 9.10 Beta with Intel PRO/ Wireless 3945ABG
In Toshiba U30013H
