For me the ACPI_SLEEP_MODE variable solved the problem. when I leave my laptop
for a many time inactive then blank screen came on, then nothing more works,
only the power button :(. But changing the value of mem to standby works for me.
My laptop wake-up without problem.

After I poked a bit around I guess this is /lib/udev/write_net_rules
which calls lock_rules_file() which has a 30 second timeout if it can't
lock the rules file to modify. Just a guess but I'll change the package

I suspect my problem is similar. I saw I had 3 unread emails, but only 1
was visible. When I opened a webmail interfact, mail was there.
Using the webmail, I can move items to another folder (other than INBOX)
and see them, and when moved back to inbox they are visible in
Thunderbird.

I've never had any problem playing videos anywhere else, at least not to
the point where it hard locked my system. I use totem-xine, vlc and
mplayer and have never had it lock my system up. Yes I use Compiz and I
didn't try disabling it, I've since removed miro though as hard

a split second of the sound and then crashed my system again. The video
became garbled and then X restarted itself.

Ok, wishlist seems good to me.
I also think tricking those diagonals to report marketing data is not
the best solution. By the way, we have lots of CRT monitors at work
because it's a high school, which means we keep using very old computers
(like PIII in departments) along newer ones in classroom
For what it's worth, making the clock display only the time (no date, no
seconds) doesn't help at all.

We solved it by putting "hostname $new_host_name" into a file at
/etc/dhcp3/dhclient-exit-hooks.d/

I have done some tests and have read some log files, but I didn't find
how this 'web' component got added to the 'sources.list' yet.
The dist-upgrade log doesn't show it:

I have just tried and cannot connect to a Windows machine (terminal
services) using vinagre which I think is expected due to vinagre being a
VNC client.

upgraded to Hardy Beta from Gutsy, and I had Filezilla (latest version of
apt-get) installed there.
Hardy auto detected the problem. That was it.

does this still happens, seems like a mirror synchronization issue, should be
solved in a little time, when your mirror finish copying the packages from the
master. you could try either wait until the packages arrive to your local
mirror or if you are in a hurry could use another mirror

I just gave a try with gutsy kernel (2.6.22) : A818 doesn't automount.
So it's not related to the brand new hardy kernel.
