however, set monitor to sleep after 5 min in power management. I just
put it to "Never" and will check if this still happens.

Same error for me. Fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04, retained old $HOME
partition from Ubuntu 7.10.
sudo find / -name libgtkembedmoz.so -print
/usr/lib/xulrunner/libgtkembedmoz.so
$MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME is not set to anything.
Manually setting it on the command line:
MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME='/usr/lib/xulrunne
I've just upgraded to Hardy, and the bug occurs there, although it seems that
the fix for this bug has been released.
Is this fix already included in Hardy?

well i have openoffice.org-java-common installed, it has been since i
was on gutsy. But it seems the upgrade just let it sit there without any
update, you are right to fix the problem we need to figure out why it's
not upgrading the file.

Perfect, I can confirm that this solves the problem for my
installations:
1.) Delete user-config for java by deleting the file following for each
user
$ rm ~/.openoffice.org2/user/config/javasettings*
2.) Each user has to start OpenOffice and set the JRE in
Tools-->Options-->Java
Then ever
Problem has been confirmed by multiple users upgrading from 7.10 to
8.04. Work-around is available, but root-cause is unknown.

I just did a full reinstall. I installed hardy from the alternate CD
(amd64) on LVM volumes on an encrypted partition.
I still have the same problem : the keyboard of the macbook works fine when
entering the password for the encrypted volume and when logging in, but shows
the same weird charact

The module is loaded however the driver says that:
(EE) Failed to initialize GLX extension (Compatible NVIDIA X driver not found)
This means that it's not EnvyNG's fault. Your card is supported by that driver
therefore I think you should ask here:
