Actually it seems that the cause is the new xserver-xorg-core, it seems
that XAA rendering was ripped out from 1.15.1 (no libxaa.so in package).
In old Xorg.0.log rendering was falling back to XAA:

This is really painful - although I don't experience complete hangs, I do
experience 12-second+ delays while
the script "90-updates-available" grinds slowly though. So login via SSH is

version of iwlwifi-7260-7.ucode tried to over write the file with
iwlwifi-7260-8.ucode, but only improvement was disconnections without
asking for Wifi password.

On an old pentium 4 machine with i386 Upgrade to firefox 29 by sudo apt-get
update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. Then close any open firefox and restart
it. I get a firefox dark gray and black bar in the address bar showing up in
all pages. on firefox 29 with the new interf
I should also note it works perfectly fine on my core 2 duo 64 bit
machine on lubuntu.
