i'm using Jaunty (updated today) on a HP mini 2140 notebook,
if i set my wifi network to unprotected, i can connect to it.
but if i set it to wpa1, it does not work:
networkmanager tries to connect to it,
asks me the password, which i en
after further testing, it seems it's not completely black&white...
if i set my access-point to non-hidden (means with SSID broadcasted) WPA1,
then sometimes i'm able to connect.
if i set it to hidden, i'm unable to connect.

on a hp mini 2140, Jaunty (last updated on 1.mar.2009), when X starts,
i get the following message in dmesg:
[drm:i915_get_vblank_counter] *ERROR* trying to get vblank count for

also, in the graphical mode, i get a notification window (kerneloops-ui)

after more testing, it might be that the problem is not really with
NetworkManager.
i installed wicd (which uninstalled NetworkManager),
and there it was much easier to see exactly what is happening.
when i set my access point to "not-hidden" mode (broadcast SSID),
then i was able to connect to th

it's a binary-only driver called "wl".
ubuntu reports that a binary driver is used, and if i disable it,
then (after restart), the wireless device is not even available.
in the preinstalled suse-linux-enterprise-desktop-10,

i applied the mentioned firmware, and it seems to work now. i did not do
any big testing, i just restarted the laptop with an unplugged network
cable, and the network card was correctly recognized. i tried it both
with batter-power and with normal-power. this is on karmic-current.
