I can confirm that even with udisks 1.01-1ubuntu1 automount oes not work. I
issued a similar bug reports for karmic and lucid
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-mount/+bug/507113 and
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udisks/+bug/590448).
As you can read there, a simple

Thanks Conal,
Kubuntu recognizes and acceses removable media without problems on my
powerbook, too.
I therefore changed the package to gnome-mount (may have no effect eithter ...).
The only way gnome recognizes dv/cds seeems to restart with the medium in tray.

If CD/DVD media are inserted into the drive (MATSHITADVD-R UJ-846), they are
not detected (not shown on desktop, rythmbox etc.), although the drive is
detected on dmesg and palimpsest disk utility. Autodetection works fine on
Jaunty and Debian lenny, so it is no hardware

mol-drivers-macsox: depends on mol but won't be installed
mol version is 0.9.72.1~dfsg-1ububtu1 (karmic)
mol-drivers-macsox version is 0.9.71-1 (karmic)
