I noticed while putting together an updated package for bcmwl that the
template postinst does exit $? after running common.postinst, which
skips the rest of the package postinst including any autogenerated
#DEBHELPER# scripts.

This bug is still valid on Lucid. Since it's a LTS, and given the number
of people owning Intel cards, I think it'll be nice a backport of the
kernel patches needed to fix this bug. Playing a video in Totem with a
resolution above 640x480 hogs my CPU at 100% and makes anything larger
unwatchable. (

This exact same problem happens with me. I'm using Ubuntu Karmic,
kernel: 2.6.31-17-generic. I use an ATI Radeon X800 (Chip R420) video
card using open source drivers, and after using either GIMP or
OpenOffice the whole screen will freeze and only the mouse will move--
though nothing can be click

When I use that command and the x-server is working properly I get the same out

the i915, but I still can't quite point the finger on where the issue
is, furthermore I found that the i810 is just a warning that occurs
anyway (even when the intel card starts properly). So the problemis with

package. Resolution on the laptop screen is fine but I can't get any

I doubt that this problem is related to the nvidia driver. I tested a
suspend from the virtual terminal (stopped X and unloaded the nvidia
module) - after resume, the monitor is black with some white rectangles
but switches to standby soon. Switching to a vt with ctrl-alt-f* does
not work. Rebootin
You can install the newest driver from the

power management code. You can set ForceLowPowerMode in xorg.conf. You can
see more info about possible options for radeon driver using "man radeon"
command.
