New finding: installing xserver-xorg-video-intel actually solved the
problem for me, LibreOffice is no longer causing Xorg to crash.
Previously I think Xorg was working using modesetting driver instead of
intel, though I might be wrong.
My HW: Integrated Graphics Chipset: Intel(R) HD Graphics
I've been testing with 4.6.0 which is more recent...so I'm not sure how
and older kernel could fix it. Is there some way that could happen?

Public bug reported:
tried to install gtk dev but a problem with libelg1-mesa-dev prevented it.
when I try to install libegl1-mesa-dev I get:
libegl1-mesa-dev:
Depends: libegl1-mesa (=11.2.0-1ubuntu1) but 11.2.0-1ubuntu2 is to be
installed
Depends: libwayland-egl1-mesa (=11.2.0-1ubuntu1)
Kernel-Update (4.4.0-22) fixed it for me.
