For what it's worth I tried the 2.6.35-17ck kernel from the PPA and it
didn't do anything. Still can't two finger scroll and, more importantly,
still can't disable the annoying trackpad tap-to-click. I'm pretty much
switched over to a mac only because of this issue. I can't believe
Vostro V13 is
Declining the Maverick specific nomination for now and leaving this open
against the actively developed Ubuntu kernel (which happens to be
Maverick at this time). Will re-open the nomination should a fix be
narrowed down which we can confirm specifically resolves this issue in
Maverick.

I was having the issue described above. I just removed the option from
/etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.modprobe and the synaptics driver is now being

I just only commented the following line in
/etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.modprobe:
*options psmouse proto=exps*

Today with karmic beta1 I have seen that in the gdm window, the touchpad
click works fine But when I login into the gnome desktop, it doesn't
work.

I solved my problem..I just disabled ubuntu tweak for Jaunty and that
was enough..I had enabled the repo for the X server, I think that this
was the problem..

Having the same problem on my System76 Pangolin Performance...

In py packard bell dot the touchpad works nice with the pointer and
scroll but when I try to do a click with the touchpad (not the button)
it doesn't work. In jaunty i was working fine. I'm using karmic UNR
