If the host is unreachable to begin with you should get an error 48,
if it becomes unreachable during the backup, you'd have to show us
your configuration times/timeout settings..
I am trying to think if I ever shut a box down while it was being
backed up and recalling the timeout/etc.., I do
Hi Jason
In a nice real world, if the server was up, then the timeouts would take
affect.
As you mentioned this was an early power down - what was the backup server
doing - was there tapes in the robotic library? Did the robot go down as
well?
From experience, if a power outage occurs, that was
Title: Backups running twice during the backup window
Hi,
My oracle DB netbackup jobs appearantly have been running twice during its backup window. I have scheduled the job to kick-ini at 15:00hrs. The backups run again at 3AM. Any ideas? I am using RMAN scripts via Netbackup.

We will be receiving an EVAL unit soon and wonder if anyone had any
opinions on this library? For instance, how reliable is it compared
to say, an L700?
Suppose an L700 is better, but the other problem is STK is deprecating
that library soon and the SL500 is going to be the newly supported

This makes the assumption someone at Symantec actually looks at these
things. I don't know of anyone who has posted on this link that has
ever seen a response. I know I haven't.

Title: Backups running twice during the backup window
I have an issue with one particular Oracle job where it
runs twice in a row. The minute one job completes, a second fires off and
backs up the data again. Thankfully its a small database. I so far
have yet to figure it out but I've triple

I have a windows server that has a load of mounted iscsi

I'm a

looks like the FP7 8 and 9 are not cumulative, and the documentation says you

We did the latter for our C D only systems.
Just build a policy wth C, D, system state in it put our half dozen

FYI on this topic of NBU support and RedHat 3 in particular...
Ed, you wrote that:

Fact: NetBackup 6.5, targeted for release in February, 2007, will drop

Currently my /dev/rmt directory has symlinks for the ID 0 only no matter
what I tried (devfsadm, cfgadm, boot -r, etc.) By any chance, is configuring
the SG driver a next step once I have all the entries in /dev/rmt? If I
don't have /dev/rmt entries for the 2nd drive, what should I do?
Thanks.
From that link it shows that RedHat's support position boils down to 3
years of helping people migrate TO a particular release and 4 years of
migrating FROM that release. Basically, after 3 years, they won't
officially help you deploy a new system on that release.
Same with Symantec. New

You're right. Easiest way would to be to import the tape set and then restore
to another NDMP host however, you may need to know of it came from a EMC or a
NetApp box. You can't restore EMC to NetApp and visa versa. Additionally, the
backup may have happened in dump or tar.

Hi all,
Is there any command out there to list all clients within a single policy ?
In HP DataProtector I am able to grep through text files for this.
How about NBU 6.0MP2 ?
