Almost willing to say its a 2 hour time out.
Been down this route, and actually founds some "hidden" settings in the
firewall that disabled the TCP connection after 2 hours backup
failed shortly after, normally 7 - 9 mins.
Anyhow, thats what happened here. Networks denied it... took a damn
Couple of pointers. You could write a shell or perl script to wrap up
the following commands pretty easily.
To get the list of files and sizes backed up in the last 24 hours for
a certain policy.

Thanks guys, i think the -w option is what i needed. Without this, the NBU will
just eject the tape without proper end process of the tldcd.
Thanks alot for the contributions

Folks,
Does anyone have experience of large volume client migration from one
NetBackup Domain to another that they can share? I am looking at having
to define a process for moving several hundred clients from a v5.1
Domain (Windows 2000) to a new v6.5 Domain (Solaris 10). I was

Just a couple shots in the dark. Could the issue be network congestion?
Many older firewalls can't keep up with the data transfer and start
doing bad things to packets. How about traffic shaping? Nothing like
low priority backup traffic to ruin your day. And as always - patches,
nic drivers etc
Jeff,
We've seen some strange stuff going on with our email notifications too.
For about 3 days we didn't get any catalog notifications and then all of
a sudden they started up again. As far as we know we are getting all
the non 0 failure notifications too. Luckily we don't have a huge

A while ago we saw similar issues with duplications, at least it was the
same "Connection reset by peer" error (although different error code).
It was fixed by changing our TCP keepalive value on the media server.
Perhaps someone changed a timeout value on the firewall. Play with this
value on th
I'm going to follow this thread with great interest. We've got the same
problem with a single backup client in our EBS. Funny thing is that a
user-initiated SQL backup runs just fine, but a master server initiated
backup fails with a RC = 41.
Standing by and reading with interest.
Thank You
Hey guys
I am receiving a Network Connection time out (41) on a consistent basis when I
run a backup on two of our servers. The servers are behind a DMZ but I have set
the BPCD connect-back to use the VNETD port and it worked for a long time but
now all I receive are 41 errors. The servers do w

Can you just create.a link or shortcut from the old location pointing

We are testing an exagrid currently and we originally had the backup jobs
pointing to a storage unit with \\exagridservername\sharename as the path.
Then we decided to VLAN it to try and get better performance. So the path in
the storage unit changed to \\ip address\sharename. The problem

The progression of NetBackup:

OpenVision <--> Veritas - Good (Still nice small company)
SeagateSoftware --> Veritas - So So (Large company 10x increase)
Veritas --> Symantec - Bad. (Very Large company)
What's next? Symantec --> Micro$oft - Catastroph

I know which tapes are frozen and I know exactly where they are. I'm

I'm using this command under 6.5.1:

Been using something pretty much like that since the 3.4 days.

I am not sure its supported for 5.1 afraid :( In fact it may only be

I was experimenting with that as well, but saw some strange behaviour so I

of them as well. I'm running NBU 6.5.1, how about you?
