I'm having trouble posting to this group. Occasionally I can get a message
to stick, but most of them are getting deleted. Trying again
I got a response from a support request. Aeris/PWSWeather are suffering
from some major problems at AWS today, apparently.
Thanks for the confirmation! I got a response to a support request -
they're affected by major issues at AWS.

Thanks for confirming! I just got this response to my support request:

problems since this morning which is affecting many websites big and small,
including PWSweather.com. Until they resolve the issue some services
PWSWeather/Aeris are having issues today. See the other thread that I

Thanks for confirming! It does appear so. I don't see any stations
on https://www.pwsweather.com/map/ . I submitted a support request.

Now I'm having trouble following up on my own post! Bad technology day :)
In case my last message didn't make it (Google says it's deleted?); I got
this response to my support request:

I seem to be unable to reply to conversations in this group, for some
reason(??). I got a response to a support request, explaining that Aeris
and PWSWeather services are affected by major issues at AWS today, and was
given a pointer to:

Thank you. No joy with ttyS1 either (and yes, I did change the setting in
weewx.conf!).
Still using ttyS1, I tried
*stty sane -F /dev/ttyS1*
but it's still not working.
Restarting the daemon, then
*sudo service weewx* status yields (repeatedly, the block of messages
doesn't alter) the
Lots of good information here. I wish all users were as diligent.
The results of stty show some small differences from mine. For example, you
have -iexten (the dash means negation), while I have iexten, which means
mine enables non-POSIX special characters and yours doesn't. That could
matter.
Good evening all!
I hope everyone had a safe and fantastic Thanksgiving!
I'm a very new user. So new, I haven't even downloaded WeeWx yet (planning
to though, and use the simulator at first). However, my son and I are
trying to put together a personal weather station, with the intent of
As Bob suggested, setting UV to None is the simplest solution. But,
normally, None means a bad value.
Really, the driver should not emit anything at all if the sensor does not
exist.

Lets start with figuring out what your box thinks it sees...
Please post the output of:
- lsusb
- dmesg
- syslog for the period after a clean powerdown/powerup until you see a

Also give us some details about:

Thank you all, very much! This gave me the boost that I needed.

Many thanks again Bob, UV = None worked a treat.
In a bit more detail, after adding UV = None the "UV Index" entry in WeeWX
"Current Conditions" changed to read N/A although in the "High/Low" section
it still read 0/0.
The blank UV Index graphs were still there as there were still data (albeit
Hi Paul,
I'm not sure if this will work, but in another thread Gary let us know that
if you are using weewx 4.2 it is possible to add corrections:
[StdCalibrate]
[[Corrections]]
UV = None
It might not work, but a simple solution if it does (may be it should be UV
= Null, not sure)
Not sure if I should ask this here or start a new conversation but I've got
a question about how WeeWX deals with reporting UV Index.
The console that comes with these 5in1 and 6in1 stations has the capability
of reporting UV Index as required by the 6in1 station with a UV sensor.
With the

Oh, before I forget, they have an Open standards structure, so even for
developers it should not be too hard to parse its device data;

Hi John,
Works great. Here is what I added to the loop-data.py
Line 735 self.ten_min_packets, self.cfg.ten_min_obstypes)
# Added to allow specific null keys if no data available in
loop packet
must_have_keys = [ 'current.dateTime',
'current.extraTemp1.raw',
Not sure if this should be in the dev or in user group. Depends, I guess..
I have my own debian server running weewx (currently parsing netatmo data)
and I want it to collect and show data from my barani Pro IoT devices,
which are not in the supported hardware list, and frankly I have no idea if
I wasn't able to follow up on my own post last night - my posts kept
getting deleted for some reason. Let's see if Google hates me any less this
morning...
I got confirmation from Aeris that they were affected by the AWS outage.
Info at https://status.aerisweather.com/ (scroll down a bit).
Perfect thanks a lot Tom

WeeWX version 4 will run under either Python 2 or Python 3. Sounds like you
want to use Python 2.
The directions are in the upgrade guide. Just substitute "python2" for
"python3".
Unpack the archive:
tar xvfz weewx-4.2.0.tar.gz
Change directory into it:
cd weewx-4.2.0
Build the distribution,
Mine started working again.

If it works on your old computer, but not the new, then there is something
wrong with the RS232 port on the new computer, or the driver that supports
it. Whatever it is, it is intermittent, as the computer is able to
occasionally communicate with the console.
A few things to try:
