I'd also say their first two LP's. Besides that, I highly recommend Ryuichi Sakamoto's B-2 Unit from (1980). Quite experimental and way ahead of its time. It also features the fantastic electro dub track riot in lagos. Essential YMO albums [snip] ...what other ones were good? Anyone got a collection of his or Haruomi Hosono's stuff? I guess this is as good a time as any to ask: Has ANYONE found the original Soft Ballet (Hosono) release that the softballetforms tracks are remixing? I love Carl's treatment of No One Lives On Mars, but I really want to hear what he was working with. I know there once was a Virgin release of Soft Ballet, Forms, but it's not online as far as I can tell. I'll even do an old-school cassette swap for it... - There4IM

Well, so many of their songs were unique. Hmm, Service and BGM are so-so, only %60 good stuff each I guess. (BGM is really out their, pretty experimental for YMO) But, uh, Solid State Survivor is a total classic, lots of essential tracks on that one. Do you have a source for some of this vinyl? If I could come across the single for Rydeen that would be awesome, that song must have blown people away back then. I searched for this song long ago and finally found it on a CD compilation, Old School Jams at Best Buy (shudder). Had to pick it up tho. On the kdj subject. Whats all this about new versions of old releases. I've heard that some of his old eps (small black church, the set up, in loving memory, possibly more) have been re-released with some or all of the tunes replaced by new tracks. Is he trying to confuse us all. Re: (313) In The Beginning There Was Jack, And Jack Had A Groove . . . . .
thanks for finally settings things straight on where the speech first came from, *Now* can it be put to rest?? yeah I did catch a bit of the Motor Drug bust on channel for that night. I got the impression it was dealers working within the Motor, but not in conjunction with the Motor. They played an undercover tape of a undercover cop buying some roofies from some dude and later showed him assuming the position outside against a cop car. Then of course they tried to tie it in with the date rape murder trail currently underway. Isn't it disgusting how the Detroit news media sensationalizes every little story and brags constantly about being the first to bring you exclusive reports (most of which are half assed informationally devoid, non stories) Topping the news tonight, a story you'll only hear first on WDIV: are your kids really asleep after you've put them to bed? You'll be surprised what our hidden cameras caught at what just may be your house! :^) Lets not forget the crippling Blizzard of 2000 coverage which shutdown most of the tri-county area and sent everyone into a panic, but never materialized. it was funny how they still tired to salvage the big story even after every prediction about it was wrong! :^) sean [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I can't believe how some people on this list continue to put out incorrect information. (313) Hello Berlin
Thanks to everyone for their Berlin suggestions, WMF was closed down the weekend before I arrived, but should be reopening soon elsewhere, and since it looks like I'll be moving there I'll still get to go. On a side note, does anyone have any contacts for Berlin apartments? They seem kinda scarce, and I hear I will be spending about two-three months looking for one, so I'm hitting all possible methods of finding one. C'mon, somebody has to have an uncle with a nice apartment on Paul-Lincke Ufer for rent. Tosh
