June 3 guestlistings for out-of-town DEMF visitors

2000-05-02 Thread Shane from PLURkids

Greetings,

In light of the fact that a few of you may be traveling to Detroit for the
DEMF from quite a distance, and might be staying for a few extra days:

WHAT:
Any people from as far or farther away than Toronto who wish may be
guestlisted for our June 3 (the saturday after DEMF) event in Detroit,
featuring the deep, funky, percussive house stylings of Kevin Yost
(i! Records NJ) and DJ Fluid (Om Records SF), as well as a 48-bin,
four-corner Turbosound Rig by Midnite Blue. Yep, it's a rave so be prepared
for a few of the newer school mentality to be about, but it's a clean 50,000
Sq. Ft. warehouse venue on fenced private property (with clean bathrooms,
natch), so there will be plenty of space to get your groove on without
getting run into by someone needing a backrub.

An electronic version of the flyer can be viewed online at
http://www.plurkids.com

HOW:
To get on the guestlist, simply email me no later than Thursday, May 25, at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] with your full name, and the full names of anyone
attending with you. One ticket per person, and you'll need to present photo
ID (that looks like you!) proving how far away you are coming from on the
night of to gain entry.

CONFIRMATION:
I will send out confirmation of all guestlist requests via email. If you do
not receive confirmation via email, then you are not listed.

May all of your travels be safe - I can't wait for DEMF!

Don't feel bad, there's a lot of people who've been in Detroit "from day

alright, heres the deal... (playing my very small violin)

Im just going to come out and say that I want to be apart of this event. I
sent our CD and all sorts of info. to the address I had, but I just dont
know if thats enough. I need to get some personal contact numbers and
e-mail address's.

Alot of people know us as the people that have done the mass tv video
installations for the likes of planet e, motor, and science. We also have
gotten the recognition for doing modifications to 606's and makeing them
into an entirely new breed... However the sound work we do has gone by
un-noticed to many people here in detroit, probably because we are so busy
with doing the video and sound work we just dont get out enough, who knows?
This world is just not fair to us hard working artists sometimes.

Anyway this heart wrenching message comes from my heart and soul and the
need to share our sound creations with all of you on this list. I can only
describe that the sounds we create have alot of the detroit routes since i
lived here all my life , yet the experimental randomness makes it at times
sound a bit more on a "tribalistic" "tech-step" feel. I hate to even try
to

categorize it, however I heard the description of "jungleish" style sound
done all on analogue gear has been given this title. We arent jungle, but
we are %100 live with analogue gear and my very intricate beat manipulation
at times sounds jungleish or d+b ish.

O.k. thats enough, I apalogize for the pathetic display of violin playing.
If anyone can be of some assistance I would very much appreciate this.

Casey Hogan is a New York producer who works with Alexi Delano
on his ADNY releases on Plastic City. Casey also has a 12" out on
the AV8 label in addition to his recent ep on Intrinsic Design. Casey
is now a member of the Sonic Groove organization as well. Regarding
Intrinsic Design, they have had one other record out from a few
years back by Denard Henry called Phuturehaus.

Brotech is a new label out of Portugal. Wla Garcia is the artist and
Advent/Cisco Ferrerria was the remixer. Step One is the first release
on the label.

i think the label is from the uk. the release you're talking about is
by wla garcia and cisco ferrerria (half of the advent) contributes on
one track. it's a really nice release.

The big surprise, the artist line-up, has already made it to the
