info on the industry?
hi, i'm doing some research and need to get some information relating to the industry side of techno...specifically detroit techno. if anyone knows of any articles or sites i'd greatly appreciate it. if all goes well i hope to turn this project into a dissertation more focused on women and/in the scene. so you might be hearin from me again. thanks for your time, bekka. _NetZero Free Internet Access and Email__ http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html
Re: [313] Le Car - Autiobiography....??
hi all, just wanted to let everybody know that this cd is a little screwed up. i just got it the other day and when i listened to it today on my way to work, i noticed that the track numbers are not correct...somewhere in the begining it shifted...so 9 is actually 10, ect... i'm not sure where they get screwed up yet. also i've noticed that the songs don't seem to have as much bottom end as the records, and sound even harsh sometimes. i think there were some remastering problems. so maybe this will be rare someday...probably not, but artists and music as good as this are rare anyway :) ksg. From: Matt MacQueen [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Peter T. Bense [EMAIL PROTECTED] CC: 313 313@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [313] Le Car - Autiobiography?? Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2000 11:09:31 -0500 Saw this one on the new-release lists and was wondering if anyone out there has had a chance to check it out yet. It says 23 tracks according to the Bent Crayon list and I was wondering if anyone know if it was mixed/unmixed or had opinions on the music? Peter, This is an EXCELLENT unmixed collection and a great catch-up if you weren't buying each one as it came out. And even if you were, this is great collection to have all in one place. There are also some various untitled bits full tracks exclusive to the CD release. If you are into their overtly synthetic sound, if you like cybotron, Telex, I-f, gary numan, dopplereffekt, ultravoxx, kraftwerk, early Human League, more detached (yet funky) electronics with a great flair for new wave, this is an essential CD. I was playing selections from this on my radio show this summer and always got calls asking who it was and how they could get it. Even those not into more straight 4/4 techno seem to be interested in it. It's definitely a unique twist on where detroit meets new wave, I think their tag line describes it quite well: the forgotten sounds of tomorrow. peace -- Matt MacQueen [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.reverbmag.com archived radio shows -- http://macqueen.com/radio - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Also, not D related but looking for original source of sample used by Stereo People on Tweekin records for their self titled tune that goes All I want is my stereo. The sample sounds like it's from a dancehall tune and I think I heard it once and I can't remember from where. this would have to be 'stereotypes' by the (truly wonderful) specials. p

Can anyone give us a report on the Kenny Larkin chat? I can't access the site - I used to be able to, but now I stop at the pills, actually the pills don't show. And I have downloaded everything. If there is anyway someone can post the transcript that would rock. Hidden DJ Bone set
OK, well it isn't really hidden I guess, but it isn't billed as such anyway. The 11/14/97 Planet E record release party set on Beta Lounge is billed as Kevin Saunderson and Moodymann, so I had to check it out. BUT once you've scanned past the first 15 minutes of the annoying betalounge loop they announce DJ Bone as well. It's 5 hours and I'm just getting started so you know it's gonna be a good Friday at work. :) www.betalounge.com for those who don't already know. I could spend years here. This is what the internet is all about. When Richie Hawtin spoke before DFX909 he seemed to be quite opposed to the archiving of everything these days. I can honestly say I wholeheartedly disagree when it makes my work life that much better. Tristan __ Do You Yahoo!? Send instant messages get email alerts with Yahoo! Messenger. http://im.yahoo.com/

OK. can anyone help me out with the preacher track ID from 32 minutes into the aforementioned Betalounge set? Heard this before and must have it. MUST! BetaLounge 11/14/97. One more time. Re: [313] Track ID
It occurred to me that it might be Sunday Morning by Moddymann, since that's what the preacher keeps saying repeatedly. Duh. He re-released all those previously released tracks on Planet E under different names after I already had them on KDJ so I sorta steared clear of the Planet E stuff for a while. My mistake I guess... track I.D. -demf
Can anyone help, I think this is fairly well known... D.E.M.F. Kevin saunderson 1, about 12 mins in just after Designer Music (where he starts playing to the gallery some), funk guitar-esque noises and a fat, fat bassline... bit of a crowd-pleaser. ta Seth _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Re: [313] planet e mix cd stuff
The cover was not Carl or Planet E's choice...it was the choice of Next Era, the label in the Czech Republic which Planet E licensed the mix to. This is allegedly what sells in the Czech Republic. None of us were crazy about it. The release of Geology 2 (Mike Clark DJ mix) has been pushed back to 2001. pw xpe nyc In a message dated 9/21/00 6:25:04 PM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: i've got the planet e house party mix. first off, the cover is apalling--a big breasted cyber-babe and 'panet e house party mix'. at first, it makes you think that there must be some trance label that just happens to have the same name. then when you realise it's the planet e, it makes you think that carl craig was either blackmailed or has some problem with the i.r.s. the tracks you all know. the mixing is spotty. i wouldn't recomend it to anyone, unless they have no other access to planet e material. james
