It has been said that Rob Hood did it... personally I'm not concerned who
actually did it, it's an amazing peice of work.

Subject: [313] UR - Belgian Resistance/I.D. HELP WANTED

 Hi,

I hope someone can help me with this. I have this Underground Resistance,
World Power Aliance 003 - Belgian Resistance 12" (one-sided). Does anyone
know who made this track, and if the other W.P.A. are by the same people?
And are there any W.P.A. after #3 ?

 any help appreciated

Sounds to me like his own brilliant "Get There Tonight" from Spelunking.
If you don't have this, you need it.

Yes but these guys are very boring. I fall asleep when
I hear how mellow they are.

Actually whether Sims is good or bad wasn't the point I was making, more so
the fact that he is one of techno's most hyped new names. I saw Umek the
other week and was pleasantly surprised - he created a range of moods,
though I didn't feel he was technically outstanding. Then the other night I
saw Fumiya Tanaka from Japan and liked his subtle build and sublimal mixing,
though his three hour set didn't hold my attention. I guess nothing can live
up to Stacey Pullen a few weeks back.

No I don't think so, unless they were buying records from a few years
back.

All kidding aside, heh heh heh A Jaguar question: A few years back
there was a party in Detroit thrown by Dez and the DETOR boys, it had
Murat closing out the night and was in some warehouse right in the city,
maybe near Woodward? Anyway, the last track Murat played as the
warehouse doors opened up to reveal the Detroit skyline and the day was
a stringy UR track that sounded a lot like Jaguar. Has Jaguar been
around this long, or at least the template sound for Jaguar? Is this a
sort of signature sound that has been passed down since Strings of Life,
kinda like the Basic Channel 'whooshiness'.

it was another mega-rave.. with a rave crowd! *grr*

however:

recloose was awesome both times i saw him. his first set (which was only
witnessed by about 10 peeps!) was full of hip-hop and deep house .. with the
addition of hall and oates and finishing off with jupiter jazz. his second
set at cargo club was pretty much straight up tech-house and very groovy...

common factor was brilliant although being a "rave" the crowd didn't like
his sounds .. cept for those who know!

nice new (313 related) 12"s

2000-10-22 Thread jurren baars
just thought i'd recommend a couple of other tracks then those "lovely" ben
sims releases.

Mr Hazeltine - The Pressure - Plug Research 20001
a really great techno track with male vocals by Divine Styler
Duplex - ep 4 - Clone 18
Deep detroit techno, with beatifull strings. this 12" is getting
better and better every time i listen to it.
Theorem vs Stewart Walker - thx4
needs no explanation, if you liked his other releases, you'll like
 this one as well.

for all those downloading mp3's from Fuse through napster, i just listened
to the unmixed tracks from "fuse presents dj hell" a forthcoming mix cd by
dj hell (there was a dave clarck at fuse mix cd a couple of months ago, not
too impressive IMO) this on the other hand should be a great mix, containing
tracks by: 69, frankie goes to hollywood, donna summer, maurizio, liaisons
dangereuses, and many other classics. Really diverse.

Rolando/UR Kraftwerk Mixes

2000-10-22 Thread neil simpson
Sorry if this has come up before (i have been temporarily off list) but I
just saw on the Kraftwerk website that Underground Resistance, Rolando, and
Francois K have remixes of Expo 2000 out, and they're rather good! (but not
downloadable!)

Has anyone seen this going about on Vinyl or CD? ! a must have for me
because i have been also a fan of kraftwerk before it was chic to be drop
the name.

I hope this is a sign that Kraftwerk are ramping up for some kind of second
coming!

I'd be interested to see some kind of new album or material ... the feedback
loop from kraftwerk -> detroit/techno -> kraftwerk would be interesting to
hear.
