I believe he'd be going into this with both eyes open. maybe it will expose some people to the music that will be enriched by it and go on to learning more about it but, for every one of those people there are 100 mindless sheep that could care less about the tune or anything that is good art in general and why waste good a art on sheep? It was taken from the Caustic Window (a.k.a. Aphex Twin) Joyrex J9ii 12 and it reappears on the Caustic Window compilation CD (RePHLeX CAT 009 CD), which is something I hope everyone on this list owns, since it contains some of the most brutal, mind-blowing, life-changing Techno music ever released by mankind. The track name is The Garden Of Linmiri. any tips on where i might acquire this incredible cd of which you speak? (i did look on groovetech. no dice). kyle

question about Time to Shine, Motor 9/16
if that wasn't TP spinning at Motor during the first two hours at Time to Shine on Sep. 16, who was it? i've been listening to the set on the archives at http://www.groovetech.com/motor/archives.html, and they thank TP for spinning and everything. the whole set just SOUNDS like it was done by TP too. also, is there anyone that wants to do a track ID, for, well, the whole first two hours? 8o) there are a lot of classics in there that i don't know the name to, that i absolutely HAVE to have. most urgently: track that kicks in at 28:47, 39-something (vocal house track), and 53:17. I always figured that good techno was the perfect driving music anyway. My cousin once told me of having a near-religious experience listening to Derrick May whilst travelling on the M62 across the Pennines in Northern England! At the same time, it's a great track from an underrecognised artist - the record and Atkins both deserve a wider audience. I find it very hard to condemn him for it. Guess I'll just stay right here on the fence on that one... One final thought; this is yet further proof of Detroit techno as future music, not the has-been genre too many have cast it. Re: [313] Ford and Atkins
Moreover, I know it was NEVER Juan's intention to be underground at all. He's ALWAYS had dreams of being a big money-grip, black supastar, it merely convoluted into something special and different and he went with the flow of revenue, popularity and intellectualism musically. But can you imagine not being known in your own city for nearly 20 years!!! Honestly, recognition in other countries or on a completely different continent is mind-blowing, but to have to return to to your home town and be a relatively unknown entity after changing and nearly revolutionizing the recording industry at large is something that most Europeans just cannot comprehend. Painful, really. Then to see younger, white guys from nearby where you live get all the accolades and play made that pain excruciating. That is the god's honest truth about it. I'm very proud and elated for Juan. It is embarassingly overdue and it won't change him musically one blinkin' bit. Where My Beez At
It's not got a lot to do with Detroit techno, unless you say that both Underground Resistance and Wu-Tang Clan like bee metaphors, but the new Wu-Tang album, The W, is amazing - it's definitely techno and underground in spirit.
Read Seal (RE: [313] Diehard Technoheads)
Just curious : I know Peacefrog and the kind of music they put out - but it's the first time I read the name Red Seal - what major artists do they have ? any website, recommendation ? Gwendal hmmm, I don't want to do a Darw_n and overanalyse this but I don't think its right to split music into genres... I dunno if anyone remembers the global scale flame war that went on concerning what defines techno. I think pretty much everyone on this list has a pretty wide range of tastes... I know for sure that detroit is just a word that I associate with music I like. Peacefrog and Red Seal are two hugely contrasting labels but they both put out techno... Don't pick on house... I like house, okay? House is good... What did house ever do to you?

Hey all, there is a interview with her and a bunch of other Canadian DJ's in the current issue of Air Canada magazine, so if you fly AC then you can read it. She and Fred Everything are on the cover. If your in the mood for the classics go to this site, http://www.crosswinds.net/~arcadia2/ lots of Paris Grey before she hit it big with Kevin Saunderson also some Model 500 samples. My favorite is Edward 'Get Down' Crosby and It's Party Time, that's one bad ass classic. A few Italo disco samples, I can see why people are rediscovering Italo disco, it go's well with the Danny Wang, electro-new wave, and all that 80's trend. Oh yeah, there's also a sample of Bang the Box, the track Richie Hawtin ripped off under the name Basement Trax stephen.

i'm sure it's a blessing in disguise... i don't know for sure, but all that fame and glory would probably get old after a while. just look at Eminem, i know of people that borderline-stalk the guy. and i haven't been to one of his parties lately, but usually there's a nice core crowd who know and love his music. maybe i'm just different, but to be known and respected internationally and to be able to live in peace at home would be ideal to me. my 0.02 Mike From: laura gavoor [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], 313@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [313] Ford and Atkins Date: Fri, 10 Nov 2000 07:58:44 GMT Moreover, I know it was NEVER Juan's intention to be underground at all. I always figured that good techno was the perfect driving music anyway. My cousin once told me of having a near-religious experience listening to Derrick May whilst travelling on the M62 across the Pennines in Northern England! Anyway, as regards this issue, I suppose still I'm basically not in favour of artists letting major corporations use their music - something in me makes me think it too often reduces the music to the status of mere product. Fifteen or however many years ago (someone?), 'No UFOs' connected with a relatively small audience on its release. Now Ford are paying Atkins a presumably hefty wedge for it's use, presumably because they are convinced (and you have to figure they did research) it will reach a much wider audience in 2000. Maybe the world is slowly catching up. Re: [313] Mark Kinchen
Maybe someone can confirm this, but didn't he go mainstream and started to produce for people like Madonna (amongst others) in early '90's, or was that his brother Scott? If the other stuff he's done is nearly as good as his dub of Can You Feel It on KMS I can't wait to hear it. Does he still produce? Any information would be nice. a - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [313] Mark Kinchen
He is doing RB, stuff for 702, Tevin Campbell and Dave Hollister - he co-produced this great song for Hollister last year, forgot the title! Hollister used to be in BLACKstreet. He is a singer with a voice like Bobby Womack, K-Ci, Sisqo, etc. I guess MK would like to be where She'kspere and Rodney Jerkins are at. He just needs to work with an artist who has a label behind them, as the likes of Hollister haven't really had the push/exposure they deserve.
