I know that these two are playing tonight in Detroit but I'm not sure of the
location. If anyone has any info they could pass along it would be great.

I think that's really our only point of contention. I love that sound,
but I don't know that they've taken it any further.

HOWEVER.

I knew it would happen, and last night at DJ Revolver's coffeehouse
night in Windsor, it did. I heard a dope record, ran up to the DJ and
asked what it wasand it was a Deep Chord record. *sigh*...

I guess in the end it comes down to the fact that they're doing good
stuff within an already established vein, and they're doing
well-constructed stuff. I still stand by my earlier comments, but I
think I see your side of the coin a little better now.

Speaking of things deep Berlin-influenced, your last Flatplastic was
great, Giles. I like, I like.

Cheers,

Bill

Maybe it's just me, but I sensed a bit of a soporific spin on the Deep Chord
stuff in spots...sorta like the groggy funk evidenced on First Floor.

Re: [313] London Record shops

2000-11-19 Thread Janne J M Vanhanen

Any record store tips for a London visitor with very little vinyl hunting
time in his hands? Interested especially in 313 electro stuff (Ersatz,
Intuit-Solar, Direct Beat, UR), any store specializing in this genre?

P.S. I asked earlier about worthwhile clubbing in London got very few
replies, so I'll try again: anything 313-related (esp. electro) in London
next weekend?

Thanks for any answers,

Eukatech is on Endell Street (nearest tube Covent Garden); Atlas is on
Archer St, (nearest tube Picadilly Circus) Once there go up Berwick
Street
for Reckless, Music and Video, Vinyl Junkies, Sister Ray. Handy for you:
just get on the Picadilly line at Holborn (though they are all in walking
distance if you'd rather) and follow the trail... Have fun.

new records

2000-11-19 Thread ryan burns

just got the new g-man on knight trax. the only track i would play is the
inside cut. its a great piece of detroit techno. i could see rob hood
producing something similar.

also got every dog has its day part 2, its even better than part one.
one more thing i just got Jovann Back in the Dark re-released on Distance.
half way through the track after one of the breaks the records pops in the
exact same place as my friends copy of Back in the Dark... any body else
have this problem?

Last Night

2000-11-19 Thread Fiveorange
I missed Mike, but Theo and Kerri were good.

But the crowd left a lot to be desired.

We talked about this record before that Theo played at the DEMF. It's called
I Can't It and it is his new record which he said will be out in two weeks
(counting the days).

I'm looking forward to Wednesday but I hope the crowd is more lively.

unfortunately, someone busted out the window of my car and stole my

welcome to detroit...

2000-11-19 Thread darw_n
I finally saw this commercial this weekend, and I have to got to say, I am
very impressed by it...

And I do think now that the implication that detroit techno is
quintessential, as Ford asserts there Focus is...

Or perhaps a variation of that, what I don't think is that they simply are
coping the term techno in reference to technology
