 what is this 'finally being
 considered a true
composer' of 'symphonies'? whenever i've seen a
 greata dj i have usually
been completely satisfied and often blown away by
 the skills, the funk, the
soul, energy etc etc. isn't this enought? i am not
 anti intellectual.

I think what we're seeing here is a division of
styles in electronic music that goes beyond the
allready developed genres and subgenres. Rather than
just work and rework the material in each category,
people want to start creating (or attempting to
create) something new.

I'll be playing on the radio tonight in Chicago on 88.3FM at Midnight.

It's also being netcast, but I'll have to tell you the URL later.

I'll probably start out with chill techno, work it into weird IDM-ish
stuff and jungle and end with annoying hardcore.

apology to diane lynn potts

2000-12-01 Thread Kent williams
I think I kind of got out of hand yesterday with the 'humorous' posts
in response to Diane's How to be a DJ Ho.

I'd like to apologize to her for giving the impression I meant to minimize
her as a person, a member of the extended Detroit Music family, or as a
journalist. I have nothing but respect for her on all those counts.

I really want electronic music to become more inclusive of women and
less of a boy's club. In my own small way I've tried to make that happen,
by booking women DJs whenever I have a say in the matter. Diane is
an intelligent, articulate person with a lot to offer to this scene,
and I would not want my puerile jokes to lead anyone to take her less than
seriously.

New dance show - memory gone

2000-12-01 Thread dj revolver
Can anyone refresh my memory: who was responsible for the New dance Show
about 8 years ago on channel 56? I remember being in high school and I'd
rush home to hear some fresh booty tracks and see some wacky new dance
moves. My boys and I would throw down the moves at dance clubs (we were
underage of course), and at high school dances - and hell - in the hall ways
and on the football field at practice.

Now I can't remeber who's show that was. Does anyone have some archives?

ya - i know not really 313 techno related but it is 313 dance related;)

Zanza records'Droid

2000-12-01 Thread Danny Wolfers
Hi folks,

I am looking for a track called droid from Milo (or Mito or something
like that) on Zanza records.
It was supposedly the theme tune for the Brazilian news back in the
days.
I have a version from Hipnosis but that one doesn't cut the cake as
smooth as the Milo version.

If someone knows where to find an MP3 or if you have the vinyl version
lying around please contact me.

I can definitely vouch for this store -- I've got friends in IC, and the
first time I went out there in '94, I was surprised by how many great
records they had (guess I didn't expect it from Iowa). I don't remember
too
much in specific (only been back twice), but I do remember being shocked
at
seeing the second copy of uZiq's Tango N' Vectif I'd ever seen -- after
Sister Ray in London, no less...
