Review:Techno Unit 30: Audiochrome

2001-01-07 Thread Mediadrome

Techno Unit 30: Audiochrome
Beat-oriented techno that goes in for electronics more
than tune. An interesting number is 'U307', bouncing
back and forth between speakers, with a little spray
of wind continuing in your right ear for minutes upon
minutes. There are elements of keyboards and
highlights of music, but not much more than that.
Nicely composed by Larry Kucharz, he knows what he's
doing and what he's playing at. But if you're looking
for the sort of techno you can whistle, you shouldn't
stop here, as this is an hour of verging into the
minimalist side of electronica. Good soundtrack stuff
which doesn't hinder the picture. Ben Ohmart-

Stewart Walker : Granular Synthesis

2001-01-07 Thread DustinH
One of my favorite records on the ambient side of things is Stewart Walker's
Granular Synthesis 12...where should I go looking to find things similar in
nature to this? I havent ever heard anything like it since i picked that
record up.

Thanks,
Dustin

Re: [313] Stewart Walker : Granular Synthesis

2001-01-07 Thread Phonopsia
You may want to try listening to the nationally syndicated radio show Music
from the Hearts of Space on NPR. Lots of completely beatless space music
there. Some of it is complete crap, but some is good. Granular Synthesis is
it's own animal though. You won't find a whole lot of music like that. You
may want to check some of these for exceedingly chill moody ambient music.
These are all older though.

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works, volume II (Sire)
Double Muffled Dolphin - The Lion's Are Growing (April Records)
MLO - 10 (Rising High Records)
Irresistible Force - Global Chillage (Rising High records)
Another Fine Day - Life Before Land (Beyond Records)
Global Communications - 76:14 (Dedicated)

DEMF demos?

2001-01-07 Thread Nathan John de Yonker
Hey all, the music fest is less than 5 months away. I seem to recall a
mass mailing from planet e for those who wanted to perform last year.
Where do demos go to this year?

track id

2001-01-07 Thread Scotto
I heard this track I have to have last night
I read the label and it said eric martin and the track name I think was
sump pump

it had a real crazy analog noise in it that went show-wee-wo repeated a
couple of times and then went down an octave and then up two octave and
repeated.

I think I have the name and track right but I want to make sure because it's
hard to read the record label when it's spinning!

also I was wonder if anyone who andrea covington was interviewing on the
jeff mills record tw-001 preview the record calls the track glen21*
I thought it was gennis p-orridge but i remember a month or so a go we were
talking about this and I either missed the conclusion or deleted it on
accident

thanks
