[313] track ids - Mike Clark/Norm Talley Frequncydetroit mix
Hi does anyone have a track listing of the mike clark norm talley mix on the frequencydetroit site? if not, can anyone tell me what the following tracks are: the first track on part one which has the vocal always come back to your love. show me where i belong tonite. give me a reason to stay. no matter if i go left or right. i always go back to your love. next up is a track that comes in at about 41mins and has a big horn/brass section. can't explain it anymore, other than to say i've heard it played by a few other detroit guys. if you here it, you'll know it. straight after that is a track that has the vocal that sounds like mixed up in your head? theres no vision to show your life (your whole life)? not too sure if these are the words, i downloaded the low quality recording, so it's a bit muffled. lastly: a track that goes here comes the sun, here comes the light, here comes the day thanks a bunch i'd be lost without you guys nath - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[313] Mathew Herbert Live
Wow! That about sums up the live NYC Mathew Herbert @ joe's pub on friday. He had 3 microphones setup, one through an echo and the other two through compressors. He started of by making a pop using his mouth into one of the microphones then walked back to his akai (old, very old) sampler and started looping it on the fly. But wait that didn't sound just right, so he went up and did it again, this time got it right, sampled it , looped it, then triggered his sequencer. All the time using his hand over an alesis (??) controlling the filter of the sound... He also had a kaos pad up there and a jv-80. He continued doing this through the night, sampling bottles clanging, dani siciliano singing, etc... Most of the stuff he dropped was off his bodily functions album but he did perform Going Round ... Shame K7! didn't let a lot of people in and there were a lot of disappointed fans ;( Some still standing outside after the show... I heard he went over to openair afterwards and did a, dare i say, a horrible d.j. set there around 3ish... can anyone confirm? - Pete --- Peter Grammenos Goldman Sachs Co. WDTR is the only worthy station to listen to in the daytime now! They play Big Fun, Goodlife and The Perculator (sp?) on a daily basis :) It's also The Voice of the Detroit Public Highschools, so they have students from Cass Tech and Cooley High doing the weather and traffic - absolutely hysterical. Yeah Just another reason to turn dat sh*t off. Too bad really, as 105.1 was one of MAAYBE two stations that would have me singing and bouncin' through all the construction and mayhem currently barring our way on metro D's jacked streets and byways. Okay kiddies now repeat after me... PROP-AH-GAND-AH. Also would like to add that I went to see Moulin Rouge the other day and aside of the fact that the soundtrack was utterly ridiculous and insulting causing me to finally leave only 1/3 of the way through the film. It was initiated by the MOST horrendous cinematic advert by our friends at J. Walter Thompson for techno's best friend the almighty Ford Motor Co. I think perhaps the word PUTRID could come close to describing what was exhibited for over 60 seconds. That advert was most paninful to sit through and literally made my stomach turn. The most remarkable and only bright spot of the whole thwarted experience was the fact that the audience booed through almost the whole cinemmercial. Is there a God after all ?? [313] Joe Henderson
Just in case you don't know, one time Detroit resident Joe Henderson (whose various albums and appearances on Blue Note I have eulogised on these lists before, no doubt) has reportedly passed away. More of cult figure than a widely recognised one, Henderson had a very distinctive tone and cut several superb albums for Blue Note in the 60s and Milestone in the 70s. He forged his own (often very modal) path somewhere between hard bop and Coltrane, latterly using electronics to make some fantastically innovative albums which never really got the acclaim they deserved at the time. [313] Re: [truevibes] Joe Henderson
Yeah, this is a real loss. Joe played such an important part of the music scene in NYC and the West Coast during the 70's and will truly be missed. I had the chance to see him in Toronto in around 89 and was amazed at how controlled his sound was...not a loud player, but you could just hear the intensity burning though his horn, lifting the band up with him. As a small tribute, I played a set last night here in NYC at the Music Now! Festival...our set was dedicated to him. Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre followed us. An original member of the AACM, he played a heart warming set of music. Another individual voice well worth the effort of tracking down. Thanks for the post. G'bless NPR. Well, NPR is a major contirbutor to the fund to prevent low-wattage radio from becoming more accessable. They, for some reason, feel threatened by real community radio. [313] Release from Groovetech
Recently Groovetech's had to make a number of difficult decisions to ensure that it continues to move forward. As with any business, it's essential that we generate revenue in order to keep our doors open. When times get tight, all companies must focus on increasing revenues or decreasing costs. Lately we've been doing a great deal of both. Out of this reality came the decision to close the San Francisco radio station. We chose GTRadio SF, in addition to the other internal cuts we've made recently, based on economic factors and its ability to directly generate revenue. Whereas we have headquarters and warehouses in both London and Seattle, the decision was based purely on finances and practicality, not our commitment to supporting one musical community over another. We are, however, very pleased to announce that GTRadio SF will remain open thanks to the HUGE outpouring of support from the station's global fan base, and the San Francisco DJ community who will be donating their time and effort to keep the station open. It is the SF DJ community to whom you should express your gratitude; they are the ones who have given it its heart and soul since day one. They are the ones who have now made it possible for the station to continue to move ahead. All of us at Groovetech want to take this opportunity to thank the listeners, DJs and customers who have supported us over the years. We also want to ensure we continue to progress toward our goal of bringing you the best electronic music in the world. The best way to help is by ordering a few records or CDs from the Shopping section of the Groovetech site. This not only supports Groovetech, but also all the DJs and artists who are the backbone of the global electronic music community. Once again, thank you for all your comments, feedback and support.
