Hello,

I was looking through the Skimo new release list today and noticed that
there is a new Microworld release on Pitchcadet. Is this the same Microworld
of Transmat fame, or a different artist using the same name? Any help would
be appreciated, TIA.

[313] Kid 606

2001-10-16 Thread FC3 Richards
i picked up some kid 606 records because of all the good i have heard about
them, just to see. what i got were a couple of 7 that are basically
Hip-Hop with IDMish sounds. kind of a crazy mixture. is this typical kid
606? just wondering.

Heh, was this by chance part of the remix series?

The Kid 606 you're hearing about would probably be stuff like Soccer
Girl EP, Twirl, PS I Love You and PS I Dub Ya. Check any of
those out to hear his more laid back techno-ish stuff.

Very housey. I daresay disco house. Well produced like most of the UR
stuff - but maybe not the 'must buy' of a shopping expedition. I agree with
a comparison to Nation to Nation and Yolanda - I'd even give a nod to the
newer housey track on Millenium 2 Millenium. The copy we have is by
Jamerson called Got to Give it Up, HR1001 mixed and edited by UR.
Additonal mix by Agent X. All the mixes sound alike, to me, with varying
intro/outro lengths. Nice synths circa early 1990s Detroit. Almost a
precursor to Cajual and later Chicago disco house.

  Anyone heard/seen/have this.

I've seen it a couple of years ago in a record store in Helsinki
(Spinefarm had some real goodies back then... ;) I remember giving it a
listen back then but decided not to buy it because I was short on cash and
I had already spotted some Basic Channels and Happy Trax just wasn't a
 must buy.

If I remember correctly it sounded like the stuff they made with Yolanda,
vocal parts of it, naturally. Now to think of it, and I may very well be
totally off having heard it briefly and only once, but it reminded me a
 bit of Nation to Nation.

Please write us a review when you've had a chance to listen to it. :)
