Hi there,
I picked up a record about a year ago in Holland on BPM Records- a
French label by the looks of things- called The correct use of Techno-
Vol1- A decade of Detroit Music. It's a strange affair with tracks from
R-Tyme (Use Me Carl Craig mix), The Electric Company (Bob Leonarduzzi, Zach
Roberts and Eddie Watson), Resse and Santonio (Truth of Self Evidence) and
Keith Tucker (Emerald World)- and I rushed home excitedly to put my new
found gem on the turntable.
Unfortunately the guy in the store had put the wrong record in the
sleeve and I was flying back to Scotland the next day. I only recently
checked out the record in the sleeve to find that out that I had a different
volume of the same series and that this one had tracks by John Tejada,
Teknotika, Santonio Echols and others.
Which finally brings me to my point- does anybody know who would have
put these records together and what is on the other volumes? There is a
little speech at the bottom of the sleeve--

I should thanx so many people for their support
If I forget any one I should thank no one, except Mad Mike for his help (and
his letters), Chez Damier cause he knows what love is. A special thanx to
my Daddy who gave me peace, strength and tranquility and the brand new B.P.M
Dream Team Sylvian, Jerome, Eric.

Stop to waste your time with drugs!!
I know what I'm talking about

SR

So, who is our mysterious, drug hating label boss with so many heavy
name Techno-bods to call his friend??? Any help on this would be greatly
appreciated

Cheers

I got promos of both of these in Paris -- I don't have the track listings
though since they're white labels. Unfortunately, BPM records is closed.
No idea if they're continuing with a label...

2001-11-21 Thread jkessler
Speaking of Environ/Geist, I got a chance to check him out DJing last
week at Sapphire in NY and was pretty impressed. He layed down all
kinds of funky flavors from dope electronic disco to jackin' house classix
and deep techno trax. Lots of old school and all around musical stuff...
very nice! I hope to hear him out more here in NY in the future.

The 21/22 Corporation label as well, although those are probably going
to
be hard to find, but check Round Table Distribution
 http://www.roundtablemusic.com/index1.html

These are all more or less towards the techno/electronic side of things,
stuff that's more in Metro-Area-style would be anything (and I mean
absolutely anything!) by Daniel Wang, both on Environ as well as his
now
 defunct Balihu label.

Also recommended is the dL label (DownLow) and $tinkworx' EPs,
although jt
himself thinks it isn't in a similar style, I think it is, so there :)

Oh, and by the way Environ Records is from New Jersey.

It used to be, but it's based in NYC now.

Ladies, gentlemen, articulated welding arms, lend me your earholes.

 *cough*

Er, anyhow, I joined 313 about a month ago after years of putting it
off, and just wanted to introduce myself and my quite amateur music.
I've been listening to Detroit techno since I was fourteen (which
admittedly wasn't that long ago), and plugging away at my own tracks
since I got my first computer (a 386 with eight megs of RAM, a mono
sound card, and a copy of Scream Tracker). Fave noise makers are
Mills, Craig, von Oswald, Morganstern, Wang, Brikha, and Bell.

If anybody has some time to kill and wouldn't mind giving me some
feedback, I've just uploaded my latest to the following URLs:

 http://www.bprince.com/bp_blueVinyl.mp3 (160 kbps, 6.2 megs)
 http://www.bprince.com/bp_bluePreview.mp3 (96 kbps, 3.7 megs)

Its 5:12 long, and starts off a bit sullen and Kompakt-esque, but it
gets more this-listy towards the middle. Any comments are much
appreciated, as techno-receptive heads are hard to find here in Utah.

May the spirit of the jaguar bless your dance floor.
