its called pure detroit its in the fisher building, right next to where the motor stage was. if you were facing the stage it was the store windows on the left. they're not just a record stre. they sell all things detroit. (clothes, books,...) as long as they're made in detroit. the record they stock are exclusively from detroit labels and detroit artist. i heard a rumor they didn't even want plus 8/minus stuff because it wasn't technically 'detroit' On Thu, 11 Jul 2002, Samuel Hobbs wrote: so where is the new record store that C2 had his tastefest afterparty at? thanks twice -sam __ Do You Yahoo!? [313] Visiting DJs (was Derrick May Lost)
Derrick is become a regular UK treat this year. Prior to his playing Lost earlier this year, I dont think he had played in the UK for about 18 months I remember some time back he was at The End one night, when we opted to make the journey to Birmingham for Atomic Jam instead (my thinking was 'oh Derrick plays here fairly regular so I'll see him somewhere else soon'. It seemed like an eternity before he got to play in the UK again. The same thing is happening with Jeff - I know he had his own reasons not to play in UK, but after the dearth now he is a fairly regular feature again. I guess its hard to find that right balance between being available enough, and not overflooding the market. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [313] AudioMatriX Record Release Party
Just to follow this AMX news up, the new 12 on their own AMX label 'Audio Africanisms' is great stuff. Its a three-track EP - I guess the nearest comparison would be perhaps Octave One, maybe some Mike Grant material - techno with a definite fast-paced house groove and feel. AudioMatriX also have a 12 coming out in October on Footwork records - called 'House Ballads Part 2'. 'House Ballads Part 1' is a 12 by Mark Flash that is out now on Footwork Records - there's another Footwork EP coming out before the AMX by Louis Digital in September. There an archive on Groovetech at the moment where you can hear sets from Mark Flash, AMX, DJ Marquis, Louis Digital and Lazlo Kovacs - these were recorded at the IS-12 party in Ann Arbor around DEMF time this year - http://www.groovetech.com/ Look out for the AMX and Footwork records in your shops. [313] SYSTEM 7
from a-wave.com out W = The CD (AAWCD008) is titled MYSTERIOUS TRAVELLER. It has 10 tracks:- 1. ALTITUDE - MAYDAY MIX 2. MYSTERIOUS TRAVELLER - GROOVY INTENT MIX 3. BIG SKY CITY - MAYDAY MIX 4. IKON - MONTAGE MIX (Rhythim is Rhythim) 5. PROTOTYPE 1 - ELECTRON MIX 6. FRACTAL LIAISON 7. MYSTERIOUS TRAVELLER - FIRE MIX 8. BIG SKY CITY - ABOVE THE CLOUDS MIX 9. E-MERGE 10. OVERVIEW 1. Altitude - Mayday Mix This is one of the first tracks we did with Derrick in September 1990. It featured on the first System 7 album, released on 10 Records (Virgin) in September 1991. This is not the album mix but Derrick¹s own club mix, that originally appeared on the Altitude double pack in April 1992, together with other remixes and a vocal remix featuring Ultra Nate. 2. Mysterious Traveller Groovy Intent Mix This is a System 7 remix of one of the tracks we made with Derrick for the 1994 System 7 album Fire and Water. This remix gives the track a more housey feel, while retaining all of the original parts. We did the remix in February 2002. 3. Big Sky City - Mayday Mix This was a big track for System 7 and was the result of our collaboration with Derrick in 1995 for the Power of Seven album. This is the original version and is Derrick¹s own mix. 4. Icon Montage Mix (Rhythim is Rhythim) This is one of Derrick¹s own tracks, and it was made in 1992, after his first collaborations with System 7. This version originally appeared on the vinyl-only compilation Virtual Sex in 1993 and has never been released on CD before. We love it and feel it fits really well with the System 7 tracks. Icon has been licensed from Derrick¹s label Transmat and was released under Derrick¹s artist name Rhythim is Rhythim.. 5. Prototype 1 Electron Mix This track was originally an early idea in our sessions with Derrick in 1990 that never got completed and up to now has never been released. We always intended to make a final version and we finally managed it in February 2002. This mix is a bit electro-orientated and manages to feature really well Derrick¹s original live keyboards. 6. Fractal Liaison This short piece featuring just Derrick¹s keyboard and Steve¹s guitar was taken from jam recorded directly to DAT in the 1990 sessions. This originally appeared on the first System 7 album, released 1991. 7. Mysterious Traveller Fire Mix This is the original version of the track Mysterious Traveller that appeared on the Fire Album one half of System 7¹s 1994 dual album Fire and Water. 8. Big Sky City Above the Clouds Mix This remix, the third of the three new ones we made in Feb 2002, goes for a chunkier, more solid rhythmic feel coupled with a dreamy approach the keyboards, including both Derrick¹s original parts and some new parts from Miquette. 9. E-Merge In a way balancing the inclusion of Derrick¹s own track Icon, we have included one wholly new System 7 track that fits in with the overall picture. A chunky groove underpinning some oddly random sequenced arpeggios. 10. Overview A softer more moody piece featuring Derrick¹s bendy keyboards and some floating lead guitar from Steve. This is the original version from the Fire album (1994). -Original Message- From: Paul Wise [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: vrijdag 12 juli 2002 20:58 To: 313 mailing list Subject: [313] no subject Just a quickie to anyone that¹s thining of letting the derrick may/system 7 sampler go by Don't.. [313] panacea thursday review
i checked out panacea last night for the first time since seeing carl craig on new year's eve, and had a great time. the music was fantastic, mike clark and michael geiger had everyone feelin it with some of the best house i've heard in a while. there were way less people than i expected. i've been out of the loop, but do people in detroit still go out? cover was $5, which was worth it for the way that place sounds. it was nice to get out again and run into lots of familiar faces... ani - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
