Re: [313] Mo' Ghetto Tek
However, I feel that ghetto tek may be selling more in Australia than previously because, as with hip-hop and electro and some two-step, it fits into the 'nu skool breaks' scene here, which has marginalised progressive. So the local breaks DJs are playing it. Yeah New school/ bigbeat dj's here in Canberra (a small town that happens to be the capital of Australia for overseas people) have been buying ghetto tech by the bucket load. I heard an assualt track being dropped after a fat boy Cr*p (slim) track a few weeks ago. It just seems totally bizzare that all these people who like really bland music are digging it. Godfathers playing at a stock jeans fashion parade here in two weeks time at the National Science and Technology Center (weird i know) so I'll see what happens after they hear it played how its meant to be. Another thing a friend of mine who likes new school breaks commented Man this is an awsome new school track after i played mirage by perception laterz Sam --- Cyclone Wehner [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Some interesting thoughts. Or they misunderstand the meaning of 'skills' I remember reading a UK magazine (perhaps DJ) a while back naming the top 50 DJ's in the world, Paul Oakenfold won which says it all really. I don't think that says anything. If you did the same poll in any other country you'd get similar results. Techno fans appreciate deck skills more than trance / prog fans, but then Techno fans are in the minority of clubbers in a lot of countries. That's why you'll never see Jeff at no.1 in a DJ / Muzik poll. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'm going to see them play at the same club tomorrow night, so I can confirm then - but I would have thought it was unlikely given the enormous gulf in quality between KMS and a 7th-hand PurposeMaker rip-off! Samuel is very purpose-maker influenced indeed.. but he made some good tracks and therefore should get some respect.. try cycle 09 or cycle 010 (remixes part 1) you also could like the sls01 album. And his mix cd might be mixed very well.. but I have seen him once, and he had a lot of problems to keep his records synched! But he could have had a bad day.. and mixing is the studio is much more comfortable then mixing in a big hall. perhaps looped groovers rather than looped bangers is more appropiate. I saw him at Lost around 2 years ago and must admit it was pretty uninspiring. That whole tribal techno sound has lost its way somewhat recently. you have a point there... but I still like to mix some SLS tracks in a house - detroit techno mix.. it fits in quite nicely.. just play not too much of that kind of loops. [313] re: planet e / todd sines
the static EP is mildly characteristic of my sound.. actually I think of it as a beginning to a departure of new sounds. As one of the tracks was done in 1993 and recorded to reel to reel, and then cleaned up digitally. connect is idea that was started and will be picked up again for my album on the Background house sub-label, A Touch of Class. Most people would know me for my minimal bleep techno.. think DBX, Robert Hood, old Relief, and Studio One.. arrangement consisted of drums [909, 808, RZ1, CR78, or homemade sounds], a sub bass line, and usually a DX100 or SH101 (FM or analogue synth) as the main line. I flirted with some vocal samples, etc. I've also done a series of melodic tech / house tracks.. abstract IDM, dark electro, and now I don't know what to call it. dark, experimental house? It's not quite there but I guess it's a good thing.. I have a discography here: http://www.scalestudio.com/sound/sines/ I'll try to keep things more up-to-date in the future. ; +odd -- Todd Sines icq: 7580 SCALE:form | image | sound http://www.scalestudio.com - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It's on tonight at 7.15pm, which is probably too late for almost everyone to listen to live, given that it's 6.30pm as I write this, but odds are that show will be available to hear on the radio 4 website (www.bbc.co.uk/radio4), for a short while anyway. Perhaps 313er Tim Barr will feature, as he wrote a book on the band. Can't understand why nobody asked me for a quote, though...:-) TOM - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
