(313) Semi-annual MK Thread, Now on SK, was - Re: (313) playlist WNUR Chicago - 20 Dec. 2002

2002-12-31 Thread Tristan Watkins
Thank you Matt for always forwarding these playlists. I always find
something unexpected to feast my ears on. What on earth is this?

MK - Somebody New [Music Institute Goodbye Mix] (KMS '89)

Discogs.com says it's a Scott Kinchen remix, and there seems to be a ton of
other stuff by him as well??? Did he just ride MK's coat tails or are there
essentials in his discography as well? How essential is this record and does
anyone know where I could hear it? I assume it must be golden with a title
as risky as that.

I think it's New Soul Fusion - Prelude (Soma Quality Recordings Volume 4,
1997.)

If I'm mistaken it might be that the above samples the version you provide
which might be the original, but that riff/loop is unmistakable. You can
verify this yourself by listening to Mix-Up Vol. 5 'The Mayday Mix' CD
(Sony) AKA as 'The May Day Mix' (MoS).

James first asked:

Ken then replied:
I think it's New Soul Fusion - Prelude (Soma Quality Recordings Volume 4,
 1997.)

Maarten now says:
What I hear is CANDIDO - THOUSAND FINGER MAN

great disco track released on salsoul (cancin´ prancin´ep), but I have it
on the frankie knuckles compilation (a selection of classics)
And prelude doesn´t sample this track.. it samples whistle bump by Eumir
Deodato.

Can´t help Robin though...

Cheers y´all,
Maarten

Anthony Shakir = Shake...at least I *think* that's his name.

true but shawn rudiman is not an alias of him.. that´s what I
wanted to

point out here.. as there seems to be an error on discogs.

I can't get it to stream, but it's got to be Shaun Escoffery - Days Like
This (Oyster Music), not sure which mix.
