(313) An introduction... and a mix
Hello 313, My name is Mike Long; I live in Cedar Rapids, IA. I have been into electronic music (mostly house) since late in 1993. If someone asked me how I got into house I would have to say it was a tape my friend had by DJ E-TONES from Minneapolis, this is still my favorite mix of all time, though the tape has been completely worn through and is no longer playable! I started mixing about 2 years ago but I have been collecting records for at least twice that long. I recorded my first mix a few months ago and would like some feedback from anyone who wishes. Direct link to the mix in (real audio) http://www.subsynth.net/audio/sundaymix.ram peace Mike

(313) New (and slightly weird) mix online
After all that discussion a few weeks back about what technologies like Ableton mean for the humble mix, I started tinkering around with it a bit myself! The general concept for this mix is one that's been knocking around my head for several years but all attempts to render it with two turntables just felt somehow lacking... until Ableton came along! Anyway, the mix has its own little web page which generally explains the (rather strange) concept. It's fairly rudimentary but bear in mind this is my first bash at using these sorts of mixing tools! http://www.lunarselector.com/ Hope you like it, Brendan

(313) new axis
elektrabel-6277 mission one-axis awesome. sounds like the old axis 9a '95-ish sound, but reinvented for the future. hard, funky, dance-focused and mind-oriented, yet very sci-fi and innovative. it sounds like it is all synths...great quality sounds as well. comes with a little pamphlet axis update that discusses the gear used for the growth release. just goes to show how far something can go with a minimal setup and a focused mind. = zachary lubin zacharylubin.com __ Do you Yahoo!? The easy fix would be to just kill your mail lady. I've contemplated this several times after dealing with the same situation. i would just love to know what was behind the decision to bring the gift of axis 'beach sandals' to the world. in australia 'beach sandals' are known as thongs, but i guess that might mean something else in the states. i can't help thinking that jeff missed a chance to do a bit of promotion in the recent interview in the chaser when he was asked about the future of techno. instead of the answer he gave he could have said the future of techno was thongs. i mean it's meant to be about what you didn't expect, isn't it ? woof
