(313) Huckaby in the 319 (Iowa City)!
In the off chance that anyone from Iowa on 313 isn't also on one of the Iowa- specific mailing lists, I wanted to mention that Mike Huckaby, Dave Herbert and Tom Gustavson (aka DJ TBA) will be spinning tonight at Gabe's in Iowa City at 330 E Washington. If you get there before 10, and there's some sort of RAWK Show going on, don't worry, it's the early show and Mike, Dave, and Tom are the late show.

Re: (313) good life
I still think it was Francois' own mix, and I can't recall how I found that out other than the first time I heard it was on NYE when Francois played here in Melbourne. A DJ pal of mine here reckons it's Thomas Schumacher's version, but I thought that was a different one again. I am pretty certain it's not Stacey's remix, which I have somewhere - I worded my last post on this badly. -- From: Langsman, Marc [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' [EMAIL PROTECTED], 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) good life Date: Tue, 15 Jul 2003 6:35 PM i wonder if this was the same version stacey pullen played in melbourne a few weeks ago - sounds like it might be. it was pretty cool. Yeah she was! She was married to Trevor Horn too. I was just looking for her solo album from the early 90s the other day in a second hand store. She rocks! Propaganda are the best! They are sooo slept on. Claudia Brucken was the singer from Propaganda, no?
Re: (313) Some History
Yeah, I got that Golden Hour CD and gave it to a friend in return for the repackaged Dare/Love Dancing album. It was interesting, not sure if you'd play it endlessly though. Maybe this has already been mentioned, but a good number of The Future-era stuff has been recently re-released by them on a record named Golden hour of the future, including the excellent Dance like a star, also available with remixes on an EP... Dance Like A Star stands out... what's the deal with the mid-late 70s material? Well it never gets mentioned does it, history cuts straight to 81/82, which is why I was asking about Ken and Greg, Alan Oldham plus Greg Wilson from the UK. I'm not interested in who was first - just the facts. Every book I've read doesn't seem to contain the info I need, and as you start to cross match a lot of it, it just doesn't add up. md I've also been digging through all the old League/BEF/Clock DVA and Cabs stuff, you'd be surprised just how techno some of the stuff from 74-78 is... I wouldn't! ;-) . Although, I'm more familiar with the post 82 stuff - what's the deal with the mid-late 70s material? Would this be even earlier incarnations of Heaven 17 (which I believe included members of what later became the League.) Any tracks you care to mention? k

You get a friend to stand by you at the decks and look like your tough manager, and they ward off these fools. Works a treat. Or you put both monitors over your ears and pretend you can't hear. ;) I've actually been pretend manager for friends DJing too. ;) -- From: Rob Theakston [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) Best lines to the DJ Date: Wed, 16 Jul 2003 11:18 PM I was DJing with Clark Warner and we were supposed to be doing a downtempo tag team set, and both of us had been looking forward to this for a while. However, this was not going to be the case..as we had several girls come up to us repeatedly during the early hours of the night asking for us to play hip hop. After ignoring them for a good hour, one girl finally came up with a stack of CDs. She went to her car and brought them in for us to play. While this was a very thoughtful gesture on her part, the less than pleasant side of me wanted to torch her CDs with my lighter, or play them at extremely low pitches soaked in some Pioneer DJ EFX. Things only got better when the pack of banshees decided to start yelping the mantra hip hop! hip hop! over some record Clark was playing.
