RE: (313) Re: new records
Future Beat Alliance - Lumiere EP (Versatile) - if it had been released 10 years ago it would be hailed as a classic! Kerri Chandler - Street Musiq Vol.2 (Large) - wicked varied ep, of most interest to this list will be the live version of 'Can You Feel It'. Someone should sit A Hundred Birds down and play them this track. Now THAT'S how to cover a classic! Makes a change for a cover to do the original justice. Niko Marks ep (Planet E) - Dope. RE: (313) really great jeff mills interview
As usual, Mills not only has a pretty cerebral approach to the mechanics of actually djing, but a conceptual approach to the art of djing too. This three-dimensional snapshot of a real-time experience of performing a set is prety unique - even if the actual *act* of performing a set is not. Grasping the un-obvious from an 'obvious' situation is the mark of a good mind I think (mho). k -Original Message- From: ian cheshire [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, November 27, 2003 10:34 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) really great jeff mills interview sorry and this bit, it just gives me great inspiration.. how many mixes of this track are there? what are the more popular ones? I've been tracking down mp3s of it, but when I finally got it, its very unlike the song I was after (which I'd heard mills spin) perhaps the version I heard mills spin was just 2 or 3 records mixed, but there are female vocals saying something about the men beat on their drums and the tom sequences are much cooler than the original.. please help, I want to start working this into DJ outtings but Im at a loss now as to what to look for -Joe jinjin_a_gogo: i wonder what he's listening to in those bigass headphones while's he's spinning this shxt for us

That's a matter of opinion .. I like the album (but then I like Dave Clarke.) The live set from Brighton was excellent but I can't comment on Scala as I wasn't there. (Weatherall was brilliant : rocked the place nicely) The air was freezing in side , the bar was charging £3.50 to pour drinks into plastic cups. The side door kept opening for a heavily mascarred Dave Clarke to look out to see if there was any more people in. He was supposed to play from 9.30 - 11.00 but waited until 10.30 before finally coming on and played for exactly one hour. I could see the brain working given them their money's worth = that's enough for them. And promptly at 12.00pm 2 hours early they shut the gaff

FW: (313) work that mothafxcka
sounds like a couple of cut up versions to me. Work That Mother FXXker is by Steve Poindexter, and the phrase has been sampled into many tracks like the one off of the Killabite #1 release. the men beat on their drums is a sample taken from Women Beat Their Men by Submission (Cevin Fischer I think) which is also an excellent track that is worth tracking down. There are probably a million different versions of these tracks, so good luck!! It's from Ghetto Shouts by the Paris Mitchell Project on Dance Mania - it's kind of hard to notice it, so I was tempted to loop the Robert Taylor in this motherf*cker! bit over and over again until it became obvious... :) -Original Message- From: Robert Taylor [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 28 November 2003 16:21 To: Brendan Nelson; 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) 313 Party - names to faces What record is that from? -Original Message- From: Brendan Nelson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, November 26, 2003 8:07 PM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: (313) 313 Party - names to faces sigma.jpg - from the left: Ken, my friend Cath from Brighton, Robert Taylor (who didn't seem to notice the Robert Taylor's in this motherf*cker! bit I played!) ## ### Note: Any views or opinions are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Channel Four Television Corporation unless specifically stated. RE: (313) 313 Party 2004
We've still got to finalise the January date - I'm popping down to Public Life tomorrow to talk to the owner and see what the deal is. I'm probably going to go for February 7th, as for some reason I've got a bad feeling about the 31st (it sounds like *just* the sort of date Lost is likely to do a night on), but a lot of it depends on when the venue is actually free. The last two nights have been successful enough that I'm pretty confident we'll have a fair amount of clout when it comes to choosing when our next night - the last two have technically been one-offs, where the dates were pretty much offered to me about three or four weeks before the actual nights. For future parties, though, we should have much more time to sort things out! How are plans for the northern 313 party going, incidentally? (313) Aril Brikha - Simplicity / Threetracks.com
Hi folks! Some time ago I heard that stunning beautiful Simplicity track from Aril Brikha on www.threetracks.com. I know that there are a few clear vinyl one sided promos circulating for a few weeks now. As far as I heard this will never be released officially which would be vry sad. Does anybody know if this is true? If not (what I hope) does anybody have an idea where I can get a copy of this record (if it's released now) Thanx in advance, Arne -- ° www.arneweinberg.de °
