(313) Love Robot = Problemes D'Amour?
Anyone know if the new a. robotnick reissue 'Love Robot' the same thing as his 'Problemes D'Amour' release? A variation on the theme? It seems discogs is quite misleading on this subject... -drew
Re: (313) Theo Parrish - Parallel Dimensions - Ubiquity repress
Also that first Sound Signature compilation CD is sweet.. great round-up of the early releases. Ubiquity should do the world a favor and re-issue that on CD too. I guess I was destined to have it, because I loaned it to a friend, who had his car broken into and the stereo and CDs all stolen, then later found by cops, returned to friend, and then CD returned back to me (case shattered, but who cares the music still plays). It's got Moonlight, Shadow Dancing, Dusty Cabinets... and the spookiest creepiest coolest foggiest super-freaky-deeper-than-deep Dance of the Drunken Drums. yeh couldn't work out that cd at first because the tracklisting on the back is different to the inner sleeve's tracklisting + to make things even more confusing the japan release's tracks r in a different order and it has some different trax -- Sam K [EMAIL PROTECTED] sub-sequence 2xx 98.3fm -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Faster than the air-speed velocity of an unladen european swallow

RE: (313) La Haine (was ron's edits)
... just for the record : La Haine dates from 1995, has it just been released in the US ? and since then Kassovitz has moved to Hollywood (Gothika, with Halle Berry) ; the banlieue (with an e) is French for suburbs, so you've got good (posh) suburbs and bad (projects etc) suburbs. So powerful that a special screening was arranged for the French Cabinet to help them understand the 'street' situation for young Parisians from the Banlieu (Parisian equivalent of NYCs projects). Great music too as Robin said. The Director is Matthieu Kassovitz (sp?), who was also in Amelie, though I'm having trouble imagining two more dissimilar films. It's been a couple of years since I saw it, but didn't notice 'I Can't Turn Around' on the soundtrack. I have to admit that I am UTTERLY obsessed with this track at the moment - I go into some kind of weird body spasm trance every time I hear it. I also keep making all my friends listen to it, but they just look at me like I'm weird Anyone else get that with tracks sometimes where no one else seems to understand? RE: (313) Kraftwerk - what you can do to bring them to Movement
talking about attention to detail... apparently they had some technical difficulties at their French show : had to reboot the computer that played the videos (crowd booed when they saw the Windows 2000 startup screen...) and when the robots came, three of them were facing the crowd, but the fourth was facing the right side of the theatre ? Oh come on... Do you know what must cost them to put on a show of that size and technical prowess, both with their exceedingly high standards of audio and video quality? I mean, their shows are utterly mindblowing for good reasons, that can't be cheap to put on. I think offering a discount is one thing, but come-on.. their live show is so excellent because of attention to every detail, that takes a lot of work, prep and help.. which in a modern age translates into money for equipment, set, transportation, crew, etc. If you are talking just about the artists fee though, that is something I would hope they would consider reducing, since it is a FREE event afterall. Believe me I think they would be the ULTIMATE act at a Detroit movement festival.. but to expect them to do it for free is just unrealistic. Should we start a letter-writing campaign to Kraftwerk though, to get them to reconsider and try to work it out and make it possible? :) Everybody mail them a postcard from where you're from.. email never has the same effect. (313) 2 lone swordsmen
from the pages of Warp Two Lone Swordsmen have completed their new album, entitled From The Double Gone Chapel. Scheduled for release on 19th May, the album will be followed later in 2004 with a single and TLS live shows. From The Double Gone Chapel features vocals by Andrew himself, Keith Tenniswood on bass, plus lots of live drums, keyboards and guitar. Revisiting the murky, seedy London underbelly evoked by classic Sabres like Haunted Dancehall , the album is full of the Swordsmen?s many influences - dub, goth, industrial, electro, punk psychobilly and more.
